  1. I see, you are missing Fluid Engine and its resizing method, in 7.1 Blog posts because that is not a blog post option. Blog page image blocks, text blocks, and all blocks for that matter can be resized, by using spacers, I posted this answer for adding and resizing video blocks in a blog post on 7.1 The solution is the same for you, and then you can use summary blocks, it isn't that bad, I have been using spacers for years: 7.1 blog post pages do not have Fluid Engine so they work a bit like 7.0 (which I still use). I will start from scratch. You edit a post and maybe a section. To add a block you hover over a text block (and one may pop up on its own) or any other block until it gets a blue frame and + signs on the top and bottom. You click one of those + depending on where you want the block, in your case a video block. Add your video, like you would any other page on your site. Now comes the fun part. You have to use spacer blocks on each side of the video block to size it. You add them one at a time. You add one then drag it over to one side until a vertical blue line appears but you don't want that line to go up any further than the block or it will shift your whole page to the right if you moved the spacer to the left side of your video block. Once you have one positioned correctly add another one, position it, and then resize the spacer blocks to push the video block to the size you want it to be, it will keep the same aspect ratio. Don't forget to hit done and save (yes I have forgotten).
  2. What blog post editing features are you missing? As you stated summary blocks can only link to collection pages and there is no workaround for that.
  3. In your case, a 7.0 site will be the closest to the look you have now, here are my suggestions: https://wexley-demo.squarespace.com/ the gallery grid can be arranged in a number of different ways this is one I built. https://christinegregoryphotography.com/ This site has a landing page. https://avenue-demo.squarespace.com/ is also a good design for photographers/videographers, and bloggers like myself here: my random views I am also using a landing page template, separate from the site template, as the home page, something only 7.0 has without having to code a page to make it. https://wells-demo.squarespace.com/ has a classic look for photographers and artists. https://flatiron-demo.squarespace.com/ very good-looking template, with full-page galleries, and no footer. https://carson-demo.squarespace.com/ keeps the basic gallery structure, but if you want to go big and bold with your portfolio this is the template to use. All have the traditional gallery look, as opposed to scrolling sections. Everything looks very much the same on mobile but why not have something classic and a bit unique on the desktop? That is where photographs should be viewed most often in my opinion.
  4. t has to align to the top of the items, and they can't be enlarged individually. That is why the hide excerpt toggle is there. You can put line feeds in the excerpt fields for the posts with less text to move it closer to the bottom and align the read more buttons, but I think that blank space is not going to look all that good.
  5. If you are asking if you can copy pages from one site to another, that is possible for the most part, this chrome extension has been used by many but not having used it myself I don't know how well it works. https://www.squarewebsites.org/squarespacewebsites-tools-extension-pro If you want to link the two sites using one domain as the lead domain, then pick the site with that domain and add a landing page to that site with buttons or other links that direct to both sites.
  6. Yes use a summary block on your home page with one or more items. Set it for featured posts. Every new post marked featured will automatically show up.
  7. I agree, it seems to be logical for the toggle to be the opposite of what it is now. I always toggle open in a new window so when folks do click a link they can get right back to the page on my site where they were if they want to by clicking the window browser tab.
  8. I think so, some folks here have used it. I have the installation guide for you here: Adding Discus Comments to Your Site.
  9. I posted this response to a very recent question about the 20-post limit on a blog page and the 30-post limit using summary blocks and pagination. In your case, summary blocks will take care of your issue. The rest of my answer is just a bonus. Summary blocks go on a page but are not pages themselves so there is no pagination. But there is a work-a-round. Let me address the 30-item limit first. You can chain summary blocks together on the same page. You can have as many items as you want by setting the blocks to 30 items and filtering by category or tags. It takes a bit of time to set up and then becomes simple to add a post to. Give your first 30 posts a cat or tag name or number that you can keep up with like"First 30" then give posts 31-60 "Second 30" and so on. Or you can be more specific and group your posts by news subject. The blocks don't have to have 30 entries and still put them on one page. You can hide the cats if you wish. The actual blog where the posts reside will go into the unlinked section of your site. The summary block page will now act as your front-facing blog page. You will need to swap the URL slugs. Pagination: You can have pagination if you use a second blog full of summary blocks as opposed to a standard page or section. I have over 80 posts on one long scrolling page on my site. I also have some photography lessons grouped in their own block tied to the Nav bar but they are still part of the main page. Summary blocks are very versatile, and when combined in a second blog can be accessed by a menu. You can see my layout here. Click on any group title to see the pagination. Click on an individual item to go to the actual post of course. Check out the pull-down subject menu as well. This design works for both 7.0 and 7.1. I used Custom CSS to give the summary blocks a unique look that ties in with my picture galleries and my home page. https://myrandomviews.com/blogsummary my random views Home page.
  10. I can change it on both my 7.1 and 7.0 sites to any one of the completed and enabled pages from the pull-down listing of other pages on the site without issue.
  11. Good code, but does require a business or commerce billing plan.

  13. There is blanket code but unfortunately, it affects EVERY link, not just text links. That means your Nav links open in a new window, as well as images, everything. There is a bit of code you can add to the links you want to open in a new window but what is the point of that when you can just toggle it?
  14. Your link takes me directly to a no permissions screen. You need to set site availability in the configuration for password protection and make sure it matches the password you post here. It needs to be different from your account log-on.
  15. I can take a look if you like. I should be able to tell you if on 7.1 or on a 7.0 site. I have one question first, have you recently added any Custom CSS code? Bad code snippets seem to be the root cause of things like this more than anything else.
  16. We don't have enough info to accurately answer your question. If you are using 7.1 all the "templates" have the same color palettes. 7.1 is actually just one template with a whole lot of different layouts and color combos, any one with effort can be made to look like any other. Color pallets are located in config/design/site styles and in the panel that comes up on the right, choose colors/edit palettes and scroll down to where they all are.
  17. You can have multiple blog pages with any templates that SS has, but it is a page, not a sidebar. To do that you would create a second blog in the unlinked section of your site, and put a summary block pulling content from the second blog up as a sidebar on your first blog page.
  18. This guide should help you. You can decide to set the folder title clickable for only desktop or desktop and mobile. https://www.beatrizcaraballo.com/blog/folder-titles-clickable-squarespace
  19. That is the outline of the block with an insert point for another block, which should go away after you save or move the text to one block, copy and paste the content from two blocks to one and save.
  20. You have to turn comments on in config settings/blog preferences/ comments and turn on allow anonymous comments. The comments box will not work with that option not enabled. I turn all the options on.
  21. You can chain summary blocks together on a page and get over 30 by using filters, for example: give all posts in the first block category group 1 and the next 30 in their own block category group 2 etc. Using this method I have over 80 posts on one page.
  22. When I said post the whole post in the excerpt field, I meant all the text, images can't go there. The summary block will still pick up your main featured image from the blog post settings/content tab. Look at my "blog" which is made up of summary blocks here: https://myrandomviews.com/blogsummary
  23. I did not read far enough down the gallery block help guide, gallery blocks for non circle members can be added to any area of a 7.1 site where gallery sections are not supported including: Blog posts Individual events Product items' Additional Info It's not possible to add gallery blocks to any area with page sections, including: Layout pages Collection landing pages (blog pages, events pages, portfolio pages, store pages) Portfolio sub-pages Footers Circle members can add gallery blocks to all content areas in 7.1. Once they add the block, anyone with permissions to edit site content can edit the block. To learn about becoming a Circle member, visit Squarespace Circle. I must confess that since I didn't know how it works, I assumed something was broken.
  24. I am a bit confused here. I can add a normal gallery block to a portfolio project page section as well as a standard page section. I have complete control over the block, columns, layout all the normal things. It works with both Fluid Engine and with the Circle Labs opt-out of FE option enabled. I think that some 7.1 users may not have the gallery block option, I was sent a screenshot of a block menu and it did not appear. I have not been able to discover any part of 7.1 where you should be able to add a gallery block and the option is not there. Is it possible that when the block was added to 7.1 some time ago that not all 7.1 sites were updated?
  25. My suggestion is to use summary blocks to display your book blog posts. If you do that you can shape summary block items in just about any shape or size you want. I also suggest you put the book blog page in the unlinked section of your site and allow the summary block page to be the front-facing blog page. I do that with all my blog posts (except for some that link directly to my blog page on my nav bar) and I shape the items with Custom CSS as you can see here: https://myrandomviews.com/blogsummary
