  1. Site URL: https://www.buffalohistorypub.com/ Hi, I'm new to Squarespace 7.1 and I'm trying to create an events calendar. When I go to make my events page / summary block I've created an entry and excerpt. However, I'm not getting a "read more" option with an arrow showing up. This means obviously that people would have to click on the image which is less than ideal. I'm really at a loss on this one – anyone have any ideas on how to get "read more" to appear so that its obvious it is just an excerpt??
  2. SqSp 7.1 β€” Summary Block I've added a few summary blocks to the home page of a site which are working as expected. However… β€’ The problem is that on tablets and smartphones the blocks run off the right side of the width of the site. And, even on desktop when the browser window is not super-extended. The blocks do not resize to stay within the page (full) margins. β€’ Does anyone have a quick CSS fix for this? I'm stuck at: .summary-block { width: 100%; <β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”I know this is wrong } β€’ And what happened to design settings for mobile? Do I have to write more CSS? Thanks.
  3. Site URL: https://jws.community Hello! I am using a summary block to pull in testimonial quotes in blog format. However, after adding the summary block, I noticed that page width increases. When I open the summary block editor, I click Design and then change the Number Of Items to 30, and it adds to the page width of the entire page. In other words, if I visit the homepage and scroll to the left, there is added white space margin on the right hand side. If I change the Number Of Items to 15, it solves the problem -- but I have more than 15 items I need to display. Curiously, using this same setup on the pages called Jen, NYC Classes, Online Classes, and Events, I do not have the same issue. (Even though the Number Of Items on these pages is still set to 30, maybe it is because I have fewer posts to display from these blogs.) I have tried creating a new blog and populating it with the same posts but it results in the same problem. Please help! Thanks in advance. Password to access site is jws.
  4. Site URL: https://mattchurch123.squarespace.com/ Password is mattchurch Hi there, I've been attempting (and failing) to remove the padding underneath the image and text in this summary item (the green section). When I inspect, I can't seem to determine where exactly the padding is coming from in order to amend the CSS. Any insight anyone can offer would be amazing.
  5. Site URL: https://www.anexceptionallife.com/ Hi All, I've implemented a summary block (using lazy summaries plug-in) to get a carousel of quotes rotating towards the bottom of my homepage. Currently everything is functioning exactly as I intended with one exception. I would like to have the carousel auto-rotation pause when someone hovers over the quote. https://www.anexceptionallife.com/ Does anyone know if there's a specific javascript snippet I can use to target that block and pause on mouse-hover? Thank you!
  6. Site URL: https://lokalamico.com/wolfgang-vienna-host Hi, I followed this tutorial on how to create a testimonial slider via summary block. Client wants to know if is it possible to automatically put a "Read More..." toggle for long reviews or text that exceed a defined number of characters? It is added via blog settings below Password to the URL provided is mmmm1234 Thanks!
  7. Site URL: http://www.observationkit.com Sorry it's a little long, trying to give info. I am trying to replicate the site setup I found here: observationkit.com – I want to have a grid of items, where you can click each and open a lightbox with an image and text (that can scroll and doesn't cut off). The hover effect that shows titles would be nice, but is less essential. I'm decently familiar with web design but less familiar with Squarespace, and I cannot figure out how they got it to work. Observation Kit uses the Universal Filter plugin, which is where I came across it – OK's one of their example sites. I've gotten the filter part working fine. What has gotten me the closest to what I want on the pop-ups is using Summary Blocks linked to Store items – this gets everything nearly correct, EXCEPT that there is a character limit to the product excerpt in the pop-up... and so I can't get the full copy to display, unlike how the pop-ups on Observation Kit have extra long copy that scrolls. For my other options, Summary Blocks with Blogs have no pop-up built into them, and Summary Blocks with Event Pages I haven't tried (but it doesn't make sense that they'd work). I've also done some forum searching, and it looks like people have said in the past that the product excerpts on the Store pop-ups can't be made longer – so I assume there must be some other way to go about it. I'm worried that the issue is I'm on 7.1 – I see that while on 7.0 Summary Blocks used to support Gallery and Project Pages, now they no longer do. So it's possible OK's site is using one of those to make it work... but I just don't know. Anyone have any clues how I can get the effect I want? I really appreciate the help.
  8. Site URL: https://www.jonathanong.com/pre-wedding-photographer-mebourne I have made a testimonial slider using Summary Block. I would like to position the Title below the Excerpt. Currently the Title is above the Excerpt. https://www.jonathanong.com/pre-wedding-photographer-mebourne
  9. I am trying to sort my summary block so the oldest blog post which is associated with an event is displayed first. I am trying to setup a list of events by a person who is assigned to the event and the newest to oldest puts the events in backwards order. It would also work if I could filter the archive block by category and tag.
  10. I am wondering if anyone has a way that the excerpts in my blog summary (the " What our clients say…" section) can show stacked on top of each other in mobile view? Two columns on mobile view looks too squished! Would welcome any suggestions!
  11. Site URL: https://moushi.co/blog Hey SS Circle Members, I'm slowly, reluctantly moving into 7.1 and have a question maybe @tuanphan could help with that might help others. I'm using a Summary Block to pull the latest post from my blog, and then the active blog is underneath. As you can see on moushi.co/blog, the first two posts are the same which is of course a problem. How do you suggest I remove the first post from the actual blog page? so that the Summary Block above serves as the main "Most recent" section for the latest post, and the following posts exist in the blog below. I've expressed my frustration to the 7.1 Product team that it's really not made for writers or bloggers at all but alas, it is what it is for now. Thank you for any and all your help.
  12. Site URL: https://experiencefairfieldct.squarespace.com/eats-1 For this page only, we want to disable the summary block (participating merchants) from linking or being clickable to the second page. https://experiencefairfieldct.squarespace.com/eats-1
  13. Site URL: https://lakerenfaire.com/virtual-faire-invite Good Evening Squarespacers! I am working on a gradient overlay for a grid summary block and have successful positioned the Title and Excerpt over the images in the summary block. I cannot seem to get them to display on hover, however, and the website only displays the gradient and transition, but not the text. I feel like this is close but I am missing something. Here is my code: <!-- Rollover Image Effect --> <style> .summary-item img{position: relative; transition: all .5s ease!important;} .summary-content { position: absolute; color: #ffffff !important; top: 50%; left: 50%; opacity: 0; pointer-events: none; transition: all .5s ease; transform: translate(-50%, -50%); -webkit-transform: translate(-50%,-50%); -ms-transform: translate(-50%,-50%); -moz-transform: translate(-50%,-50%);} .summary-title, .summary-metadata-primary, .summary-metadata-secondary, .summary-excerpt {color: #fffff !important;} .summary-item:hover img{-webkit-filter: brightness(50%); filter: brightness(50%);} .summary-content:hover {opacity: 1 !important;} </style>
  14. Hi! I'm setting up a newsroom for my client's site on a blog page, and we want the images in her posts to link to a new external page instead of the blog post. There's an option for the Title to "link to source URL", but not the image itself. People will be clicking on the images, not the title, so we'd like them to be immediately directed to the external site in a new tab, upon clicking, and for that link to open into a new window/tab. Thanks!
  15. Site URL: https://www.katalizo.org/ I've been told that my injection code is at the base of the problem so how can I change it so the titles and excerpts appear on the website even if the language is changed to french or spanish ? Also how can I know which injection code is causing the problem ?
  16. Site URL: https://www.thecarolamoon.com/brand-reviews Hello awesome people in the know! I've got two summary blocks from the same source on two different pages. On the homepage the thumbnail images show perfectly round: https://www.thecarolamoon.com However, on my Brand Reviews services page, they show oval. Can you help me find out what I need to do to fix the oval to show round? Many thanks, Carola
  17. I'd like to use the Lightbox Anything plugin to display some speaker bios, instead of having them click through to their individual pages. Is it possible to add the lightbox to a summary block, without having to replace all the source URLs individually for each post? Is it also possible to use the lightbox anything plugin for a URL such as /speakers/speaker-name? This doesn't seem to work for me. Thanks!
  18. Site URL: https://www.faellesgro.dk/vlg-bydel Hi there, I have been working on this for a while now. I have created a page with summary blocks referring to our membership products (see URL), and would now like to redirect customers to two different upselling pages - '/tilkoeb-1' & '/tilkoeb-2', depending on which product, they choose. I have used this code to redirect to an upsell page, when customers click Add To Cart: <!-- Redirect to the Upsell Page after clicking on the Add To Cart button --> <!-- Author: Dmitry Kiselyov @_dmitrykiselyov --> <script> function redirectToUpsellPage() { var upsellPageUrl = '/tilkoeb-1'; var addToCartButton = document.querySelector('.sqs-add-to-cart-button'); var productVariants = document.querySelector('.product-variants'); function isVariantInStock() { return productVariants.getAttribute('data-variant-in-stock'); } function onClick() { if (productVariants && isVariantInStock() || !productVariants) { setTimeout(function() { document.location.href = upsellPageUrl; }, 1000); } } if (addToCartButton) { addToCartButton.addEventListener('click', onClick); } } document.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded', redirectToUpsellPage); window.addEventListener('mercury:load', redirectToUpsellPage); </script> <!-- end Redirect to the Upsell Page after clicking on the Add To Cart button --> Everything is working fine, when I go in through the specific product URL, as I've split the products on two different product pages and added the code to these pages. But when I go in through the page with the summary blocks, the code isn't working. Is it possible to add the code directly to the specific products - and how? Or can the code be rewritten to refer to specific products/product pages? I hope someone here can help me?? Kind regards, Ida
  19. Hi guys, I need to build a job board on my squarespace site which advertises jobs from external sites. It's basically a list of links which should be filterable by pre-defined tags and categories. I would like to display it in a similar style like the blog post summaries. Main requirements: - Option to add individual categories and tags - Redirect to an external page link when people click on the ad - Option to filter the job ads - No item limit -> I tried using the squarespace blog and the universal filter to build a workaround but it has a 30 items limit and it's also a lot of effort to administrate. I've also checked out the job board plug in by elfsight but unfortunately it doesn't have a filter option and does not allow me to change the button text or category names. Do you have a suggestion for a good plug in that I could use?
  20. Site URL: https://www.vaseconstruction.com Hi! I just want to ask if anyone has a CSS code to turn the carousel summary block into stacked mode when viewed on mobile? Summary block looks fine on desktop view: But when switched to mobile it starts with a blank white area, and then slides into 4 thumbnails. Ideally, we wanted this stacked so it looks nice on a small screen. Thanks to anyone who can help.
  21. Site URL: https://www.office2ocean.com/the-bar Hi all, I have a blog page on my site https://www.office2ocean.com/the-bar . On the page I have two summary blocks that take blogs from two different blog pages (not public). Is there a way to make it so the actual images are clickable to take people to the blogs rather than just the titles? Feel like it should be simple but can't see an option for it! Any help much appreciated, James
  22. Site URL: https://www.augmentum.com.au/articles-list Hi am trying to change the layout of the blog posts on my website. Currently I have all the blogs on one page, with category buttons to take people to different topics. However I have over 30 blogs so they are not all displayed. I would like to have a specific article drop down menu on the navigation bar to allow people to click on the topic of interest and then be taken to a page with a summary block displaying all the articles on that topic. I already have all of these articles written - is there a way to do this without changing the URLs of the articles and breaking the links? I'm trying to avoid setting up a redirect. Thanks for your help!
  23. I have added sliding testimonials to my homepage (see below) using a summary section from a blog page. I would like the arrows to be below the text in the center, anyone know how to do this? I would also like a small round photo above each testimonial and when I use a thumbnail it is way too big. Thanks!
  24. Hi all, Is there a way to calculate and display the number of blog posts in a summary block with a code block immediately before/above the summary block? (if there is another solution without using code block, of course let me know. I'm just guessing its going to have to involve a code block for how and where I want the information displayed.) For example, after filtering, I have 300 blog posts and set the number of viewable blog posts to 30. Here's text that I put in the image below for the time being to show what I would ideally like to achieve. I'm going to have hundreds of these summary blocks and blog posts will be added daily which will change the number of posts in a number of summary blocks. So as much as I'd like to simply add text, it will be hard to keep up of the various changes to the summary blocks. One other important point. If I have less than 30 blog posts, the code would have to be adaptive to reflect this. So if I only have 20 posts, then the text should read "Showing results 1 - 20 of 20 projects". This almost sounds impossible but I have seen it on another website so I imagine it has to be possible. https://projectsinsider.com/collection/off-the-plan-and-new-projects/city-of-casey-vic lifeisgood Cheers.
  25. Hi there, I’m using a summary carousel block to display testimonials (actually blog posts). I click the right arrow to scroll through the testimonials. When I reach the last one, it stops and does this fast rewind left back to the first one. Is it possible to add code so you can keep clicking the right arrow and it will keep cycling through in a continuous loop? I don’t want it to scroll automatically, I just want the right arrow (or left arrow) to keep cycling through instead of stopping at the end and then fast-rewinding back to the first one. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!
