  1. The link you posted is for a Simpleview CMS site. CMS is a content management service. The CMS is built just to do what you want. Your best option with Squarespace is to create a blog page in the unlinked section with each business having its own post and assign a category for the type of restaurant it is. You create a page in the linked section of your site (or use a second blog which I will explain why ) with images and text for your main gateway to the subcategory of the type of restaurant. You put a summary block on that page one (or more if you need more than 30 posts per block) for the category with a text title like restaurants You can adjust the layout of each "business" block. You can string the blocks together on the same page (each block holds 30 posts) and put a sidebar "directory" which is a modified archive block using the same categories. The category should be the name of the business. You can create drop-down menus on the Nav bar with links directly to the sub-category summary block and from there reach the individual restaurant or business. I am doing something like this now, only I am using two blog pages, one for each individual post and one for the categories those posts are in. The second blog is my main category and it is in the linked section of my site, the blog with the actual posts, in your case each restaurant or business, And I have links on my nav bar and a directory of categories that can be breweries or causal or whatever you want. It takes time to do this but I built it from scratch using no plugins. I used code to hide the date published and to change the look of the summary block items. I have a comments field but that can be turned off in order to make it not look like a blog page. You can also hide the category assigned to each post. Take a look and see if what I have done can be modified to meet your need. Check out the blog and the Nav bar. my random views
  2. Delete the tag from your fig posts options (if it is still there), and add it again, maybe as figs. The limit to tags is huge and shouldn't affect your site like this, there is some other glitch affecting the tag filter search.
  3. I have a question, you are asking about the post listing pages not individual posts is that correct? If you want to set the listing page layouts differently from each other then use summary blocks for one or both. They can be set independently of each other, blog page settings are universal, and there is only one set of page settings. I am doing what you want with two blog pages now. Check it out at my site. Click special stories on the Nav bar and you will see some post list differently than others like the Photography lessons on the Nav bar as well. my random views
  4. The best thing to do is post the URL for the page or your site and what page it is, and the password, you can change that later if necessary once the problem is figured out.
  5. Is it just the blog or other pages as well? If it's just the blog, check the blog page settings and make sure you don't have any characters in the password field. However, it seems to be something else because only your configuration account allows sign-on with social media or google.com People would get to that with your .squarespace account domain if they have it. It would end with xxx.squarespace/config/blog. I think you know this so there could be a bug but without your site URL for us to take a look ourselves this question is hard to answer
  6. The screenshot is the summary block settings. To get an excerpt to show in a summary block in 7.0 you go to the Post, copy a bit of the post to be your excerpt then go to post Settings click the options tab, paste the text in the excerpt field at the bottom, and save. The summary block will pick it up then if the show excerpt toggle is on of course. Directions for 7.1 are the same except the excerpt field is under the content tab in the post settings. I have a lot of summary blocks on my website, using two blog pages and a category drop-down menu, made from a configured archive block tied to my second blog page. It was a bit of time to set it up initially, and it works very well. I also have a couple of drop-down menus on the nav bar that is linked to blog posts using categories as well. my random views
  7. Could be a loading issue, I could not duplicate the problem on Chrome, but it did happen with Edge. Do you have code installed to make the folder clickable? Edge will ignore code or doesn't load it correctly sometimes. I have a custom mouse cursor on one set of blog pages, Edge ignores it all the time. If you are using code, I suggest you post that snippet, and the coders here may see where it can be modified to fix this for you.
  8. Are you signed into the site when it disappears? Many times that will keep an active script from running, but visitors will still see the code function as it should.
  9. I think you have discovered that the answer is no. A portfolio item is block-like in this regard, and If you delete one of those it is gone.
  10. There are a number of 7.0 pages with index pages. Here is a list and how the page thumbnails in the index will appear by default, if you want a "project" page, use a blank page with text and image blocks and image gallery blocks if you wish and drag it into the index page. Avenue - Grid with required thumbnails (this is the site I use) Single template family. This is one of Squarespace's oldest templates still supported by them. Very popular with various types of artists and photographers. https://avenue-demo.squarespace.com/ and my site is here: my random views All but one page in my index is a gallery page, the very bottom right thumbnail takes you to a page with a gallery block, this could easily be considered a project page. As I said I can drag pages in and out of my index, disable them enable them and I can use them as single pages on my site as well, the gallery page changes from a stacked to a slideshow with thumbnails when viewed outside of the index. This can be done by moving the page or using a second URL to get to it if still in the index. I believe this to be true for all the templates here. Bedford, Anya, Bryant, Hayden - Stacked https://bedford-demo.squarespace.com/ Brine, Basil, Clay, Feed, Foster, Greenwich, Hatch, Heights, Hunter, Hyde, Jaunt, Juke, Keene, Lincoln, Marta, Mercer, Mojave, Motto, Nueva, Rally, Rover, Sonora, Thorne - Stacked, this template family has the appearance that 7.1 was inspired by with one difference, standard parallax scrolling which can be turned on and off, no code required. I have a couple of active Brine sites. It is considered by many professional web designers to be the best template family you can use from any web hosting company. https://brine-demo.squarespace.com/ Flatiron - Grid with required thumbnails https://flatiron-demo.squarespace.com/ Forte- Slideshow with required thumbnails https://forte-demo.squarespace.com/ ( I like this template a lot!) Alex, Stacked https://alex-demo.squarespace.com/ Momentum - Slideshow with required thumbnails https://momentum-demo.squarespace.com/ unique template with a horizontal scrolling image only header and footer navigation bar Montauk, Julia, Kent, Om - Grid with required thumbnails https://montauk-demo.squarespace.com/blog-montauk very classic, clean lines, elegant template family Pacific, Bryler, Charlotte, Fulton, Horizon, Naomi - Stacked https://pacific-demo.squarespace.com/ similar in looks to the Brine family no parallax scrolling. Supply - Grid wtih required thumbnails https://supply-demo.squarespace.com/ artsy template with sidebar navigation Tremont, Carson, Henson - Slideshow with optional thumbnails is one of the most innovative template families, each one very different from the other but having the same design options. https://tremont-demo.squarespace.com/ is designed to be a minimum-page site with long scrolling. https://carson-demo.squarespace.com/ is one of the youngest 7.0 sites hamburger along with big bold links to work pages. https://henson-demo.squarespace.com/ Very simple text-driven site York, Artesia, Harris, Lange, Jasper, Shibori, Taylor - Grid with optional thumbnails https://york-demo.squarespace.com/ An in-your-face template that is used by artists and photographers, an Andy Warhol kind of look. If you wish to look at any other templates that I didn't post a link to, just change the name of the template to whichever one you would like to see, and if necessary backspace the address in your browser bar to the forward slash. name-demo-squarespace.com/ more info about 7.0 in general https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/206796007-Templates-and-design-in-version-7-0?platform=v6&websiteId=5c6b1872d86cc95a5ae97c86 A couple of notes. Almost all, if not all, of the 7.0 sites have a 7.1 look alike. For example, the 7.1 template, that looks like Avenue, is Chase Nevins, and I have worked with that template. However, I like working with my index page, it is an integral part of my site, so I am sticking with Avenue, for myself, for now. https://nevins-demo.squarespace.com/ I think that Squarespace realizes that 7.0 and 7.1 may not both be for everyone all the time, and that is why they co-exist. All the 7.1 templates can technically be for everyone using 7.1 because they are in reality just one template with over a hundred design start points (that look like 7.0 templates) and anyone can be made to look like any other. 7.0 is far more complicated than that. Templates cannot be changed to look like any other one, even in the same family it is difficult, so 7.0 has a template switch option. But use it with caution! Not everything moves over. I hope this helps. I am sure there are other questions like accounts billing, trials, etc for anyone moving from 7.1 to 7.0 or the other way around.
  11. You don't say what template you are using but if it is 7.1 you go into the configuration. Click edit at the top left corner of any page, scroll to the bottom, and then hover over the footer until it turns dark, and "edit footer" shows up, click that, and then you can edit the blocks in the footer add new ones or a section. Make sure to hit done at the top left when finished. I am not sure what you are referring to when you ask about a slide master view.
  12. To clarify, do you mean the individual images are to be displayed in grid view? Yes, but those images cannot be on a gallery page, they would need to be in a gallery block on a regular page. That page can be in the index as well. I do that on my site as well as gallery pages which only stack images. Look at the Lipizzaners gallery in the bottom row. https://myrandomviews.com/views-images
  13. I have custom CSS to enlarge the back to thumbnails X from lightbox mode for a Wexley Gallery page. What I can't seem to figure out is how to do the same thing for a gallery block in a blog post. Here is the gallery page code: .collection-type-gallery.full-view #backToThumbs { font-size: 5.0em; } I figure writing this code is a simple task for the good coders here. Thanks in advance! In case you need to view the site: https://christinegregoryphotography.com/
  14. Yes, you can, with Avenue or Wexley with a text block on the side or it can be a gallery page with one image viewed in an index page although I think the first would be better, and it can be your home page. I suggest that you take a look at an Avenue site and a Wexley site, they will give you more of an overview than the demo. I have one of each that I built at the moment and both are photography sites both are using landing page templates an option not available in 7.1 (Which is a great feature) The site headers for both can be left, right, or centered. Also on Avenue, if you choose a gallery in pictures the description can be on the right side of the image. my random views https://christinegregoryphotography.com/
  15. There are a number of ways to make this type of page. It looks like it could be Wexley, Avenue, or one of many 7.0 Templates laid out to the left (like my site) with one page, one image block, a text block, or a card block on the right. It could even be a blog post, but that is not likely. I suspect the website where this image was located is no longer active. You said slider, do the images rotate horizontally? A template very close in style to this one is Forte, here is the demo: https://forte-demo.squarespace.com/
  16. Do you possibly have that text still in an SEO field somewhere on your site?
  17. You should have complete control over the position of the header of your site with any template. However, the controls can be found in different locations based on the template. 7.1 templates are all the same in that regard. That being said, are you asking about the main header where the logo and title are or do you need to adjust the blocks or sections on a page? 7.1 does not tell you what template because it is only one with different design start points, layout colors, fonts, etc. 7.0 has template info under design/template and scroll to the bottom of the panel. There it will be listed along with when it was installed.
  18. The jump may be happening because you are signed into your configuration page, it doesn't happen for me at all. I viewed the site on Chrome and Edge and refreshed the page a number of times, it always went back to the top as is should.
  19. Can you post the password? That way folks here can view the site and find out what is making the page jump.
  20. I don't think so but I will add one ofther plug-in not mentioned above I believe. https://www.websitetoolbox.com/forum/?google_squarespace&keyword=squarespace forum plugin&matchtype=e&msclkid=30db3f5e8d51178ebf4f5ca96d75a9e4
  21. Your template is actually Horizon, a member of the 7.0 Pacific family. Here is the guide which applies to every member of the Pacific family including Horizon. https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/206545347-Pacific-template-family
  22. I should explain that if you want to change the thumbnail image, I think you rotate the order of the images by editing the media content. That is the way my index pages work in Avenue.
  23. If you are looking putting folders within folders of a dropdown, that cannot be done. You may however be able to modify an accordion block with text links to site pages on your home page to work for you. https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/4411581892749-Accordion-blocks?platform=v6&websiteId=552089d6e4b039659f7ab488
