  1. Yes, it was the guide to using index pages. https://laurentaylar.com/blog/squarespace-index-pages It seems to me that what you want to do is easier with image blocks and gallery blocks on a page that is not a gallery section but can be a page in the index. If you can post your website address so we can take a look that might help us to help you easier.
  2. You can build a site very similar but not exactly to the site posted. Using Squarespace 7.0 and here are some choices. https://momentum-demo.squarespace.com and this one: https://forte-demo.squarespace.com/ You can purchase a plug-in to build a site like this (use mouse wheel or swipe up and see what it does) https://www.sqsmods.com/horizontal
  3. Here is the complete guide for how to use index pages in 7.0 Ethan is in the Brine family and index items are always stacked inside the index. I am not sure exactly what it is you want to do but I assume you have thumbnails you want to turn into a slideshow. I think you need to do is edit the section of the index page those thumbnails are in, go to site styles in config, choose layout and pick slideshow.
  4. I am an Avenue user as well. Your gallery Turn Art is a gallery page, and it will not show captions or descriptions under the image when viewed outside of an index page. (when viewed from inside an index page the address URL has the index page and the # sign as part of the address) You do get thumbnails when viewed outside of an index page. The easiest way to get captions and descriptions to show is to move the gallery page into an index page. The folder called Art is not one, it is a folder. I suggest you create an index page, you can start out by creating one in the unliked section of your site, just click the plus sign, when the panel comes up scroll down to collections and choose index. Then drag your Turn art gallery page into it. The images will stack and the captions and descriptions will show up underneath any image that has them. Here is one of my pages viewed inside an index page; https://myrandomviews.com/views-images#/blackandwhite/ You will see a caption under one of the images. Here is the same page viewed from outside an index page: https://myrandomviews.com/blackandwhite/ The caption and description are not visible.
  5. What do you mean by updating automatically? Are you referring to having a post show up on a page other than your main blog page once it is published? A blog summary block updates as soon as a post is published. And it can be set as a carousel.
  6. Create a cat with just .......... And put it before Ezra that should move it to the next line
  7. You need to set the site under config/settings/site availability for password protection, add a password, and post it here for the site to be viewed.
  8. When you have a .gif file, you can upload it anywhere on your site that supports images, the same as an image file.
  9. Insert spacer blocks one on each side of any block. Size them to resize the block.
  10. No need to invite yourself, just add your name as a basic author, the site "doesn't care" if you are the owner.
  11. This may seem like a stupid question but did you hit done and save after changing the font pack? I have not had an issue with my 7.1 sandbox site changing fonts. I am using a pc, not a MAC. I don't know if that makes any difference, but I hope not.
  12. Go to settings/blog preferences/comments and make sure you have "requires approval" checked. Any comments will not show up until you approve them under "comments" on the configuration home page.
  13. I see, you are missing Fluid Engine and its resizing method, in 7.1 Blog posts because that is not a blog post option. Blog page image blocks, text blocks, and all blocks for that matter can be resized, by using spacers, I posted this answer for adding and resizing video blocks in a blog post on 7.1 The solution is the same for you, and then you can use summary blocks, it isn't that bad, I have been using spacers for years: 7.1 blog post pages do not have Fluid Engine so they work a bit like 7.0 (which I still use). I will start from scratch. You edit a post and maybe a section. To add a block you hover over a text block (and one may pop up on its own) or any other block until it gets a blue frame and + signs on the top and bottom. You click one of those + depending on where you want the block, in your case a video block. Add your video, like you would any other page on your site. Now comes the fun part. You have to use spacer blocks on each side of the video block to size it. You add them one at a time. You add one then drag it over to one side until a vertical blue line appears but you don't want that line to go up any further than the block or it will shift your whole page to the right if you moved the spacer to the left side of your video block. Once you have one positioned correctly add another one, position it, and then resize the spacer blocks to push the video block to the size you want it to be, it will keep the same aspect ratio. Don't forget to hit done and save (yes I have forgotten).
  14. What blog post editing features are you missing? As you stated summary blocks can only link to collection pages and there is no workaround for that.
  15. In your case, a 7.0 site will be the closest to the look you have now, here are my suggestions: https://wexley-demo.squarespace.com/ the gallery grid can be arranged in a number of different ways this is one I built. https://christinegregoryphotography.com/ This site has a landing page. https://avenue-demo.squarespace.com/ is also a good design for photographers/videographers, and bloggers like myself here: my random views I am also using a landing page template, separate from the site template, as the home page, something only 7.0 has without having to code a page to make it. https://wells-demo.squarespace.com/ has a classic look for photographers and artists. https://flatiron-demo.squarespace.com/ very good-looking template, with full-page galleries, and no footer. https://carson-demo.squarespace.com/ keeps the basic gallery structure, but if you want to go big and bold with your portfolio this is the template to use. All have the traditional gallery look, as opposed to scrolling sections. Everything looks very much the same on mobile but why not have something classic and a bit unique on the desktop? That is where photographs should be viewed most often in my opinion.
  16. t has to align to the top of the items, and they can't be enlarged individually. That is why the hide excerpt toggle is there. You can put line feeds in the excerpt fields for the posts with less text to move it closer to the bottom and align the read more buttons, but I think that blank space is not going to look all that good.
  17. If you are asking if you can copy pages from one site to another, that is possible for the most part, this chrome extension has been used by many but not having used it myself I don't know how well it works. https://www.squarewebsites.org/squarespacewebsites-tools-extension-pro If you want to link the two sites using one domain as the lead domain, then pick the site with that domain and add a landing page to that site with buttons or other links that direct to both sites.
  18. Yes use a summary block on your home page with one or more items. Set it for featured posts. Every new post marked featured will automatically show up.
  19. I agree, it seems to be logical for the toggle to be the opposite of what it is now. I always toggle open in a new window so when folks do click a link they can get right back to the page on my site where they were if they want to by clicking the window browser tab.
  20. I think so, some folks here have used it. I have the installation guide for you here: Adding Discus Comments to Your Site.
  21. I posted this response to a very recent question about the 20-post limit on a blog page and the 30-post limit using summary blocks and pagination. In your case, summary blocks will take care of your issue. The rest of my answer is just a bonus. Summary blocks go on a page but are not pages themselves so there is no pagination. But there is a work-a-round. Let me address the 30-item limit first. You can chain summary blocks together on the same page. You can have as many items as you want by setting the blocks to 30 items and filtering by category or tags. It takes a bit of time to set up and then becomes simple to add a post to. Give your first 30 posts a cat or tag name or number that you can keep up with like"First 30" then give posts 31-60 "Second 30" and so on. Or you can be more specific and group your posts by news subject. The blocks don't have to have 30 entries and still put them on one page. You can hide the cats if you wish. The actual blog where the posts reside will go into the unlinked section of your site. The summary block page will now act as your front-facing blog page. You will need to swap the URL slugs. Pagination: You can have pagination if you use a second blog full of summary blocks as opposed to a standard page or section. I have over 80 posts on one long scrolling page on my site. I also have some photography lessons grouped in their own block tied to the Nav bar but they are still part of the main page. Summary blocks are very versatile, and when combined in a second blog can be accessed by a menu. You can see my layout here. Click on any group title to see the pagination. Click on an individual item to go to the actual post of course. Check out the pull-down subject menu as well. This design works for both 7.0 and 7.1. I used Custom CSS to give the summary blocks a unique look that ties in with my picture galleries and my home page. https://myrandomviews.com/blogsummary my random views Home page.
  22. I can change it on both my 7.1 and 7.0 sites to any one of the completed and enabled pages from the pull-down listing of other pages on the site without issue.
  23. Good code, but does require a business or commerce billing plan.

  25. There is blanket code but unfortunately, it affects EVERY link, not just text links. That means your Nav links open in a new window, as well as images, everything. There is a bit of code you can add to the links you want to open in a new window but what is the point of that when you can just toggle it?
