  1. Hi @mhconsulting @kalevi's reply above is actually the solution. You can see in the source code, the "site name" is still incorrect. Note, based on your screenshot above, you likely want to use the default %p - %s for the Pages title format.
  2. Hi there, thanks for your input. To clarify, we didn’t equate "Site Authority" to Moz’s DA. We noted that DA can be useful for comparison, but it isn’t a metric Google uses for ranking. It’s important to not conflate third-party tools with Google’s proprietary metrics. On the sandbox: saying Google "lied" highlights the importance of firsthand experience. In our experience, well-built legitimate sites generally rank for brand name relatively easily. Claims of a sandbox are more often tied to spam-prone niches or specific site issues. If someone frequently observes volatile behavior, it’s worth considering why their domains might follow this pattern. The hostAge attribute from the API leak pertains to “fresh spam,” not broad suppression of new domains. As for YMYL, it’s not directly relevant to brand-name searches—where relevance is the primary factor. Similarly, NavBoost applies to domains with established user interaction data, not new sites focusing on name visibility. Back to the OP’s question, the basics—proper indexing, clear brand signals, and relevance—are typically sufficient to rank for a brand name. Temporary fluctuations may occur as Google refines its understanding, but these are usually resolved quickly, as appears to be the case here. Hope this helps clarify!
  3. Hi Community, The blog post linked above references some content from our article on using structured data with Squarespace. We noticed that it’s been updated since its first posting, which we appreciate! However, there are still some similarities. For anyone interested in exploring our guide, you can find it here: https://www.collaborada.com/blog/schema-markup Sharing content responsibly helps maintain trust within the community and ensures readers get the best experience. Here are a few tips for referencing external content: Credit the original source: Include a link back to the article or website. Use quotation marks for direct excerpts: Attribute quotes to their source. Or offer a fresh perspective: Write content in your own words to avoid duplication and add value. Thanks so much for your understanding—we appreciate it! Tools like Copyscape can also help refine content to ensure originality.
  4. The above information contains several inaccuracies, so for the benefit of beginners who may come across this thread, here are more details: Squarespace does not auto-generate meta descriptions. If no meta is provided, the field is left blank and Google simply selects content from the page to use in the snippet. Google places no limit on the length of meta descriptions. Google states: “There's no limit on how long a meta description can be, but the snippet is truncated in Google Search results as needed, typically to fit the device width.” The "first line of content" has no special significance. Google may pull it or any other part of the page’s content if it determines that content is more relevant to the search query than the provided meta description. Google documentation: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/snippet#meta-descriptions Note: "Google will sometimes use the <meta name="description"> tag from a page to generate a snippet in search results, if we think it gives users a more accurate description than would be possible purely from the on-page content."
  5. Hi @ianholmes you should see more details if you click into that sitemap.
  6. More often than not, the snippet Google selects from the page content is more relevant and compelling than the pre-written meta description.
  7. Hi @lesolay. Your sitemap is here: https://www.entertheliminal.com/sitemap.xml -- note the www
  8. Hi Community, The blog post linked above currently includes information word-for-word from our article on how to use structured data with Squarespace. For anyone interested in exploring our guide, you can find it here: https://www.collaborada.com/blog/schema-markup Giving proper credit helps maintain trust and provides helpful context for readers. When referencing content from others in your own work, here are some best practices to follow: Credit the original source: Include a link back to the article or website. Use quotation marks for direct excerpts: Attribute quotes to their source. Or offer a fresh perspective: Write content in your own words to avoid duplication and add value. Thanks so much for your understanding—we appreciate it! ETA: For clarification, the reply with a link to duplicated content was removed. Thank you.
  9. Google refers to this as a text result image, more info here: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/visual-elements-gallery#text-result-image
  10. Hi @CoinKOLs, here’s some clarification regarding the advice you received: Sandbox: The notion that Google puts new sites into a “sandbox” for months is a common misconception. Google has repeatedly confirmed that there's no artificial suppression for new domains. If a new site struggles, it’s usually due to factors like site quality, competition, or domain history issues. But you were already ranking for your brand name, so this doesn’t apply here. Domain Authority: DA is a metric developed by Moz and is not used by Google for ranking. It can be useful for comparing sites, but it’s not an indicator of trustworthiness in Google’s eyes. If your brand was previously ranking for its own name, a sudden drop is not due to a lack of backlinks. YMYL: While Google holds YMYL content to higher standards, brand name searches are different. If users search specifically for a brand, Google generally prioritizes the official website unless there are serious issues (like penalties or de-indexing). Brand name searches are generally straightforward to resolve. We see your site ranking for your brand name as expected, so it was likely a temporary fluctuation. Good luck!

  12. Hi @hollykdesign. Yes you can link to any external program as needed. If you are asking about embedding a form or portal, many 3rd party platforms make it easy with code snippets. The CPA firm will want to be involved in the software selection process at some point, as they will be interacting with that platform more than Sqsp. If you need help with software selection, we often assist with needs analysis, requirements gathering, and testing.
  13. Hi @DelaneyConsultingCo. Wrap the code in <script> tags with type="application/ld+json" <script type="application/ld+json"> your code goes here </script> We have more info here: https://www.collaborada.com/blog/schema-markup
  14. Hi @GritMark. Consider a more intuitive, user-friendly homepage and navigation. Simplifying site structure can lead to better user engagement and contribute to the overall crawlability of a site.
  15. Hi @hollykdesign. Do not use Squarespace for this. Look into something like ShareFile or similar.
  16. Hi @GenJones1964 Now that you've added a password, Google can't crawl the page to see the new content. Google has a tool for temporary removals and to clear snippets: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/9689846 If needed we offer short Zooms.
  17. Hi @njgreenbudd see the section titled "Non-experts usage guide": https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/7440203
  18. Hi @imsheilaa we launch new sites regularly. Indexing delays are not common in our experience. A client launched a small site on a new domain on Sunday and 8 expected pages are indexed. Regarding the built-in domain issue, we have a couple of posts: https://www.collaborada.com/blog/squarespace-built-in-domain https://www.collaborada.com/blog/prevent-indexing-of-built-in-domain Circle members can upvote this request: https://forum.squarespace.com/ideas/noindex-on-built-in-domains-r758/
  19. Hi @SergioBoulanger if the content was no longer needed, it is fine for GSC to show a 404. The indexing reports are informational, and not necessarily errors: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/7440203#not_found_404 More info here: https://www.collaborada.com/blog/managing-404-errors
  20. Hi @rahilchand we have a couple of posts on this topic: https://www.collaborada.com/blog/squarespace-built-in-domain https://www.collaborada.com/blog/prevent-indexing-of-built-in-domain This has always been a common issue for new sites, but now existing sites are seeing the issue. 21. Hi there. Google's change of address tool only works when you 301 redirect from old URLs to new URLs, this doesn't apply to built-in Squarespace URLs: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/9370220?hl=en#prerequisites You might try the code here to see if it helps stop the unwanted indexing: https://www.collaborada.com/blog/prevent-indexing-of-built-in-domain Circle members can upvote this request: https://forum.squarespace.com/ideas/noindex-on-built-in-domains-r758/
  22. Hi @emilykrause the issue used to primarily impact new sites that didn't launch in the proper sequence. Now it seems to be impacting all sites. We are testing the code here as a temporary solution: https://www.collaborada.com/blog/prevent-indexing-of-built-in-domain
  23. Keep in mind, many reasons listed under "Why pages aren’t indexed" in Google Search Console are expected/normal and don't require a fix.
  24. Hi @lulu_votg. For your site, the only sitemap you need to submit is: https://www.votg.ca/sitemap.xml It will only display URLs associated with your Squarespace site. If you've just launched, give Google some time. If you've been trying to get the blogs indexed and Google still isn't picking them up, you may need to improve the content.
