  1. The new SEO tools are nice but since page speed is one of the most relevant aspects you should do something about slow loading. Just a few examples of what Googles PageSpeedInsights tell me: Eliminate render-blocking resources. Estimated savings: 4.19 s Details: Resources are blocking the first paint of your page. Consider delivering critical JS/CSS inline and deferring all non-critical JS/styles. URL Size Potential Savings /ik/_PbYZD3ye….js(use.typekit.net) 8 KB 780 ms …scripts-compressed/common-526b9c5…-min.en-US.js(assets.squarespace.com) 424 KB 3,330 ms …156…/site.css?&filterFeatures=false(static1.squarespace.com) 51 KB 1,380 ms Can I do anything myself?
  2. Is anyone getting this error from Google Search Console? Either "offers", "review", or "aggregateRating" should be specified Looking into it I found some workarounds in other CMS but not for Squarespace. Any answers or workarounds? Thanks!
  3. When google crawls my site it reports this mysterious address in my two line SEO data: "590 Tahoe Keys Blvd, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150" i looked at the source code and there it was: <div class="sqs-block-content"><p>590 Tahoe Keys Blvd, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150</p></div> I did not put this in and want to remove it i am using 'om' template I wonder if this is a leftover from the template pages? Any thoughts? Many thanks Alan
  4. Hey Guys! Google Search Console updated its metrics for Site Speed this last week, and after months on the rise, my website views are now on the downfall. It's not a critical tank, but you can see that it's slowly going down and down. I've reached out to SS support, and they said my site is excellent and running smoothly on their end, but my Google Search Console is filled with Page Speed errors and that combined with the tanking viewership, the data shows otherwise. I've read through every SS document, removed as much custom code as I can find and do without, simplified my text to be web-friendly fonts only, updating everything I can see, and SS support suggested post here for support. Before I implemented all the suggestions in the SS documents, my website was ranking a ONE (1) for Google site speed on mobile and a NINETEEN (19) on desktop PageSpeed Insights, these are out of 100. After I made all these updates, I am now ranking a TWO (2) and a TWENTY THREE (23), for site speed. I'm part of a forum that is mostly Wordpress users, and they are ranking 83-100 on average. The few other SS website owners have reached out to me in this group, and we are all racking our brains. Google is 80% of my page views, Pinterest next then Facebook, so this does matter to me considerably. Other website owners I know have reached out in tears and mental exhaustion since all these changes started rolling out in September. I am trying to hold my resolve. All these error codes keep coming up on https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/, too - most of them are assests.squarespace or Typekit related, some third party code on Mobile which I'm trying to figure out. So far I've - Reduced advertising Removed unnecessary third party code Changed my font to be web friendly I checked with SS, and they said all my images are in proper sizes, but lots of the errors on my PageSpeed Insights shows to be image related. Does anyone have any suggestions? SS Customer Support Suggested I post here. I send every blessing your way.
  5. Google Search Console is reporting an AMP structured data element error on only two of my blog posts. errror image A value for the image field is required. warning image The image field is recommended. Please provide a value if available. I do have a logo set per the Squarespace knowledge base. There are no images in the blog post and no thumbnail image is set for the blog post, but I don't have it set for any of the blog posts so I'm not sure why it's having an issue with just two of the entire set. See attachment for Google Search Console error report.

  7. I just received this email from Google Search Console: Search Console has identified that your site is affected by 1 new issue of type Coverage. Errors can prevent your page or feature from appearing in Search results. The following errors were found on your site: Submitted URL marked ‘noindex’ I can't find anywhere on my site where these metatags might be! Help meee! I'm using memberspace, not sure if that might have anything to do with it. I was also advised to hide some of my home pages as they have duplicate content and this is bad for seo? It is saying that 30 (that's all of them) of my pages are marked "noindex". How can this be?
  8. Hi all - Google Search console reached out by email to kindly tell me that one of my sites is affected by 39 instances of "Event markup issues". Opening the Events report in webmaster tools, I am confronted with this: If I look at an individual url within Google's structured data testing tool, I see this, telling me location and start date are missing (odd immediate spike in data from mid August...?): Now, I don't know code, but I am surprised to see lots of other posts talking about schema.org and the need to add code for things like this (similar problems occur for blog posts apparently). Given that my events have locations in the "Locations" tab within each event, what exactly am I supposed to do to get the data correctly listed with Google? Surely I shouldn't have to learn some code and add it somewhere? That's a bit 2013... I could be adding locations incorrectly of course, and if there is a special way to add locations I would be grateful if anyone could share how to add them "correctly", else is there anything else I can do to get things correctly listed? Same for start date... What am I missing and how to do I sort it out? Thanks all
