Best for SEO - Transfer or Connect Domain for new SQSP site?
Collaborada replied to NicoleB's topic in SEO
There is no need to transfer the domain to SS. It sounds like the projects were different - one was a brand new site and one was a migration. Designers should encourage migration clients (or any client) to consult with an experienced SEO. -
Hi there. Please read this and reach out if applicable: https://www.collaborada.com/blog/website-disappeared-from-google

Hello. Edit the image block and switch it from inline (under design) to another type and you will see the demo content. Good luck!

You do not need to connect to GSC via SS. Just visit GSC from your browser and follow the steps to add your property.

it's been months; main page still not indexed (but blog post is)
Collaborada replied to ContentForHumans's topic in SEO
Was this a paid consultation with an SEO? There are very basic elements that haven't been addressed on the site. I offer short trainings via Zoom if needed. As a content writer, you'll want to understand SEO fundamentals. Good luck! -

Google Search Console not indexing most pages on my site

Hi Hanna. I see 6 pages currently indexed on Google. You can check the GSC Coverage report for some details on excluded URLs. -
Google Shows Same Description for EVERY Page - How Do I Fix This?
Collaborada replied to JessPat87's topic in SEO
Hello. I see the expected meta description for Home page in Google. Try an incognito window or different browser. Rewrite the other page descriptions as they are long. It looks like Googe is pulling text from the footer. FWIW the majority of visitors find your site via topic searches vs branded searches. But if I was searching your brand, the correct Home page meta with the other sitelink descriptions above would not prevent me from clicking through. If you need more help, I offer short trainings. Best of luck!- 1 reply

You are welcome. Yes I also reported to Support in June 2021 when it first occurred.
-
It is a Squarespace bug. Support is aware of the issue.
-
From what I've seen, sitemaps haven't been updated or generated since around December 12th or so.
-
Hi @TheDetourEffect. I've seen it take almost 4 months for Google to stop surfacing Squarespace AMP URLs in search.
-
Hi @MonMoni. The source code shows the site title is still missing the "s" -- follow these SS 7.1 directions to update the field: https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/205815838-Adding-a-site-title#tabs-1 Note, you duplicated page titles across the site. Currently they all read "Pages - Mon Moni Designs," but they should be unique. You'll want to use the default Squarespace variables and/or override on a page by page basis. As is, Google will prob rewrite the titles when/if the pages are indexed: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/advanced/appearance/title-link
-
Hi @ColinB see steps here:
-
These sites are often indexed with a mix of protocols. The article linked above discusses similarities in the sites. I'll update the post soon with more examples. The sites can still rank/perform when indexed this way, it's just an indicator of issues in general.
-
Yes all sites referenced in the article above were indexed, but how they are indexed is an issue.
-
Hi there. With boilerplate titles across all pages you are basically asking Google to do a rewrite. If you differentiate by page and do it correctly (unique, concise, descriptive, etc), then more than likely they will choose your preferred version. https://developers.google.com/search/docs/advanced/appearance/title-link

Switching from 7.0 to 7.1 or switching to a new template. Will I lose SEO ranking?
Collaborada replied to a topic in SEO
Hi there. Based on my experience, if you don't understand how migrating a site can impact SEO, then yes a move will likely have unintended consequences. Note, the current 7.0 template can be restyled to just about any look/layout you prefer. -
Hello. This site might follow the pattern covered here. If so, reach out if you still need assistance.
-
Google changed how they handle titles in August 2021. The new process was fairly mucked up, but they took feedback and improved. This page was probably crawled after the first update, but not since the improvements. Ask for a crawl via GSC. But FWIW Google is generating all titles for this site because they currently aren’t differentiated.

Font Awesome icons in Squarespace buttons
Collaborada replied to polizzi's topic in Customize with code
Thanks guys. If that's the case, it sure would be great if support would just say so. The change isn't what I find frustrating, but the usual canned responses from SS support.
