    I would like to have my site footer to be the same colour theme as the block immediately above it. This is essential one of two colours on the site. Is there an easy way of doing this. I can change the background colour but would need to code the colour for each button, social icon and text. Just switching the colour theme would be the easiest. site is samfaulkner.co.uk Any ideas?     Just launched a 7.1 version of my site samfaulkner.co.uk. but have received a Google Search Console Warning email. Apparently, there is a missing field "description" on some of the videos I am using. I am not sure what is causing this. The offending videos are in coded blocks streaming from Vimeo. My initial question is... Is this missing description something I need to resolve on Vimeo or something I need to do in Squarespace (if so how?).     Hey, I would like the H1 title to change opacity as the user scrolls down the page. Have seen other similar functionality where background changes colour.     A key part of my website has broken! Not sure what has changed. It was working fine a few days ago. Basically, I have a number of coded blocks on my main portfolio page that autoplayed looped video thumbnails that also had roll-over titles and linked to pages. They kind of worked like gifs but were better quality and (probably) not as heavy. The page was quite busy with various video content autoplaying- but now all the autoplay has stopped, the video thumbnails don't loop. The roll over titles still work and the click-through is fine.     I am using iframe to create teasers for videos. On rollover information about the video comes up. What I would like to do is have the video play in the iframe on click. This is another site that does it https://www.eddy.tv/film So you can see the functionality I am after. Pretty sure that this site is not Squarespace. But I can't figure how to do it on Squarespace. Here is my site fashionfilms.co.uk What I would like is instead of linking to a new page that the video plays in the iframe that was clicked. Any ideas? Thanks

    Site URL: https://fashionfilms.co.uk I have built a portfolio page as the home page for my new website https://fashionfilms.co.uk Each of the blocks is coded to give the interact I was after. The videos are iframes from Vimeo at 240p, the smallest I think I could use. I am happy with how it looks and love the quality of the videos vs gifs. BUT I am a bit concerned that the video heavy page is too slow to load and that it will be held against me in the SEO arms race. Attached is a screen grab from Pingdom. The page is 15mb and it takes 5.6 seconds to load. I understand the conventional wisdom is that I need to get this down to under 3 seconds. Which I guess could come from halving the page size. So my questions are Does it really matter? Does Google really penalise slower sites? I can imagine that my target audience- professionals, working in marketing on desktops, might be more patient than a doom scrolling consumer. So I am not overly worried about user experience but more about whether the site won't rank as well (other things being equal) as competitors. Is Vimeo the best video delivery platform for what I am doing? I can imagine that host the films on Squarespace maybe faster/ allow me to use smaller versions- but I am not sure I can code iframes for videos on Squarespace. Is there another way of making the videos smaller? How can I reduce the DNS lookups? Not even sure what that is. Would I be better off having a smaller landing page with a strong link to the portfolio? Any other thoughts on what I can do would be very welcome. Thanks S

    I seem to have a problem with some videos playing back in Safari. The same videos work on Chrome & Firefox. It is a bit strange. I was trying to improve page load times by swapping the link Vimeo films with lower-resolution ones. Most worked but some haven't. Seemed to have minimal effect on the size of the page.

This is a portfolio site that hopefully will entice new clients. We have had a 7.0 site for a while and decided to upgrade and use iframe videos rather than gifs to animate thumbnails for links to our films. I am particularly interested in hearing about the following user experiences: Load times- the main page is quite video heavy. Is it making everything drag? Design- Is the home (main portfolio) page to frantic? Does the amount of moving content drive you nuts or keep you interested? Messaging- Is it clear what we do? Navigation- Did you find it easy to get around? Suggestions- Would love to hear any thoughts on any aspect of the site. Any way of making it faster? Thank you in advance

So I need to create the code for 50 blocks. The frustrating thing is that the code only has a couple of changes. I am looking for a fast way of merging data from say a css file to populate a couple lines of code, without having to manually cut and paste it. I have just come back to it, having been working on some other stuff. I see that Squarespace has recently added video hosting onto the platform. I guess my initial question is... What's better embedding Vimeo or Squarespace hosting? Which one is better for SEO, for speed, for reliability, for flexibility etc?     Update: The problem seems to be caused by code blocks that include iframes. When I remove them the page behaves correctly. Am I missing some code in the iframe html? However, there seems to be loads of padding/ margin/ space on the right hand side of the blocks. On my MBP when I double finger drag across the page, I can push the content off the left hand side of the screen. Why is my page so wide? I don't want to be able to horizontally scroll the page. In Design>Site Styles>Spacing I have the Site Width (Max) set to 1920, Site Margin 2vw. On other pages that don't have the same design I am not having this issue. Any thoughts? Thanks

    Site URL: https://celery-prism-5xaj.squarespace.com I am trying to build a 7.1 version of my 7.0 site mainly because I am finding using multiple gifs too heavy and am trying to use coded blocks to run linked videos instead. I am building a portfolio style page with multiple projects, either represented by a still image or by linked video. What I would like is a hover effect that reveals the name of the project in the block when the cursor rolls over. Have done this for the stills using this Video But I would like to achieve the same effect for the code blocks I am using to run video. I am a bit of a newbie at this so could do with some help. Thank you
