    One of the ways to speed up the editor  is to make sure it is the only window open in your browser. Give it all the resources that you can. Close out any other program that is also using the web, FB is a bandwidth hog, and  streaming while working could easily kill the editor. When having these issues you might also run a speed test to narrow down the issue, config problem or bandwidth problem. I run this one:
    https://speedtest.org/

    I use an offsite image manager to sort my photos for uploading to squarespace and when it is open I have to be patient. I found I can speed things up if I drag the photos I want to my desktop and upload to SS from there with the image management softwared closed.

    Think there are improvements that can be made, but I also think allot of this drive to speed at all costs is just Google's way of saving their indexing costs. Consider that on my website the things that slow down the page most of all are Google Assets, which I have little opportunity to optimise!

It is a play on words. Great thread, Jo! Also, that's a nice logo you've got there, Derrick!
    So, I have a logo that I made a few years ago. My logo is the name of my site/movement: Bench On a QUEST.

    And here's how the "Bench On a QUEST" logo evolved:

    The colors were inspired by the colors of the L.A. Clippers basketball club.
    What do I like the most about it..? The gradient and the wings on both sides. Also, the little basketball used as the letter "O" in On.
    The #BenchOnaQuest movement was inspired by a drawing of the 2012-'13 Clippers bench. That drawing was later printed on T-shirts and given to fans at a Clippers game in Staples Center, LA.
    From a random drawing "Bench On a Quest" slowly evolved into a movement. And it grows continuously with ideas, artworks and infographics every week. Within this blog a few pictures will be shared for others to see how it all started.
    How did I decide on that logo? Well, I came up with the words while listening to the song "Band On The Run" by The Beatles... I thought BENCH (as in bench of reserves) On a QUEST is a great name for a movement! Feel free to read more here:
    https://www.benchonaquest.com/blog/2018/2/5/how-it-all-started
    Tell me what do you think about the Bench On a QUEST logo in the comments!

    One huge advantage to this change in v7.1 is that if you find a piece of code that has been created for v7.1 it has a much greater chance of working with your site.
    Unlike v7.0. I see so many people struggling when they find a piece of code that does x and then it doesn't work because it wasn't designed for their template.

    Put the text over a background image, make it the focal point. I did that in the same site I posted the link to.
    Headlines become important,  they help grab the viewers  attention, so the text following  is read,
    Also a page of technical info , for example  a company that sells computers or audio equipment could have a page of manuals and guides that can be read online and/or could be downloaded.

    This appears to be  a recent change, the white+ on the  blue circle has replaced the insert point teardrop for both 7.0 and 7.1.  It will not show up unless you are hovering over a page section  where you  need to edit a block or can add a block.

    derricksrandomviews got a reaction from Faye278 in Can you make a duplicate of your site?
    You can also copy just one page, move it to your unlinked section work on it, enable it move it to the linked section, make it your home page, move the original one out and disable it. If your home page is a portfolio page the procedure would be a bit more complitcated, you would create a new portfolio page in the unlinked section, copy the pages in the portfolio move them to the unlinked section to work on them, when done move the new portfolio page into the linked section and all the pages as well. Then move the originals out, the portfolio out and then disable or delete. Need any more help in this regard don't hesitate to ask here.

    The image has to be uploaded as a file on your site first and that link is used on the map creator. You create the map post the html in a code block on the page you want and if the original image is still there in a block remove that.  The best way is to use a link editor
    Open a link editor
    highlight text anywhere,click the link icon.
    Upload a new file
    To upload a new file:
    In the link editor, click  in the URL field. Click the File tab. Click Upload File to choose a file from your computer, or drag a file into the Upload File area. After uploading, click the file in the list. A checkmark appears beside the chosen file. Click Save, then click Apply or Save. Click the link to get the address of the file. Copy it then remove the link. The address still functions.

    Your original site will stay just the way it is until you decide to cancel it. You will have to activate the new one at the end of two weeks if you wish to keep it, and you can have both going at the same time, and then move the domain to the new one when ready. This is a very common thing even when moving from one 7.0 to another 7.0 template. They can be so different from each other that using the copy/switch template option is not the best way to go. I use Avenue and if moving to Brine or many other 7.0 templates, new trial and rebuild would be my way of making the move.

    You can use the same log-in account yes. As far as 7.0 or 7.1. All my sites are presently 7.0 but I do have a 7.1 lab testing site which I use to help answer folks here. I use 7.0 for personal use, and there are some functions I would miss if moving to 7.1 like gallery pages, summary pages that pull content from sources other than just blogs etc. 7.1 will do what you asked, both platforms have the ability to make pages with images that link to other projects. 7.0 index pages are very easy to manage I think but your solution using Portfolio pages is good too.  Best thing you can do is experiment. That is one of reasons I choose to use Squarspace, the opportunity to try it out as opposed to getting a free site when purchasing a domain like some other hosting companies offer.

    It isn't possible to click and move a site from 7.1 to 7.0 or the other way around but you can still go back to 7.0 if you wish. You would start a new trial using 7.0, build your site, when ready activate it move your domain and cancel the 7.1 site. You will receive an immediate credit for any time left on your 7.1 billing period. There is no quicker way to do it.

    Can you be more specific? Do you want to move or copy blog from old site to new site? If so can you provide the name of the old template and the name of the one you are moving the blog to? Directions are usually more helpful and precise when knowing that information.

    I suspect that you no longer have this problem. But lets answer anyway. First thing to do is log completely out of Sqarespace.com and if logged into the browser (which looks like Chrome) do the same thing. Close out the browser, restart it, log back into Chrome, which is not really necessary unless it is saving passwords for you, and then log back into Squarespace. com

    derricksrandomviews got a reaction from Beyondspace in Thumbnail B&W to Colour Rollover
    For users of Avenue and other 7.0 templates, I used this code to transition my index thumbnails from b/w to color and its very easy to invert that just flip the (0) and (1). You can also set the transition time, slower is better I think. I put this code in the index page header code injection.
    <style>
      a.project img {
        filter: grayscale(1);
    }
    a.project:hover img {
        filter: grayscale(0);
    transition: 2.0s ease-in-out;
      }
     </style>
