If you're a JavaScript developer you can use the Isotope library. There's a screenshot below showing how effective it is!
If you're not a developer, @michaeleparkour has built a superb paid plugin callled Universal Filter that is specific to Squarespace and encapsulates this functionality, and many other features!

I can understand your frustration which is why I'm always upfront with clients about what is and isn't possible, before they commit to Squarespace. You'll find my list of the missing ecommerce features here.
To be fair to Squarespace, no platform is perfect at this price point, and Squarespace can work really well in their target market. It can be a case of 'swings and roundabouts' as Shopify is missing a number of key features too, and Squarespace already has these. Shopify do fill gaps with a huge range of third party apps but the cost of these can quickly mount up for store owners.
I'll be really interested to hear about the shortcomings that you have experienced with Squarespace @sruss76. Were there particular issues that you faced?

I can see why this is an issue for you. If it helps to add some context, Squarespace only recently increased the product limit from 200 products to 10,000 (July 2020). This is a significant shift for the platform that included a number of other improvements:
Nested categories, making it easier to manage large product catalogues
    Manual reordering of categories
Manual reordering of products in every category
I hope these are the first of many improvements that will be made to inventory management and presentation in the near future. Clients are requesting a number of Commerce improvements, but top requests include 'better categorisation' and 'built-in sorting', which is why we're helping clients get online with these additional features. You can add your voice to requests for these features by opening a ticket through Squarespace Customer Care. That's how they collect feedback; this forum is not routinely monitored for product feature requests.
In the meantime, it is possible to improve inventory presentation with some code. You can sort products by names, prices and so on, and add better categorisation and tagging, but it does require some complex coding. You can hire a Squarespace Expert to do this for you (expect it to cost $300-$800) or you can purchase a plugin (Universal Filter from Squarewebsites) and configure it yourself.
If it helps, here's an example of a Squarespace site that is using filtering and sorting:

    I hope this helps.

Their Universal Filter plugin uses its own search and filtering options in place of standard features, but it does use the Categories and Tags that you've added and they can be combined. I'm not sure of this answers your question, but here's an example of a site using it where I've selected two weights and then added a search term:

Sadly, the built-in search and filtering capabilities are very basic. For improved filtering and search, I recommend taking a look at the excellent Universal Filter plugin.

paul2009 got a reaction from Earvin in Help with a specific portfolio page build...
The site is built on WordPress but is blocked from certain countries, which is why some users cannot see it. For reference, here's a screenshot:

You can do something similar on Squarespace by filtering content using tags or categories. A number of collection pages have this capability, including Store pages and Blog pages.
The Avenue template (on the older Squarespace 7.0) has a feature where clicking on a portfolio image, loads the detail of that project above the portfolio tiles, providing an easy step back to the portfolio:

If you'd like to use one of the newer Squarespace 7.1 templates, there's a third party plugin that can provide interactive filtering. It is called Universal Filter. (This is an affiliate link for a product I heartily recommend. If you make a purchase I may receive a tiny commission. All opinions remain my own.)

paul2009 got a reaction from MarcusOlsson in Manually Approve Customer/Member Registration
As I've posted previously, Squarespace do not yet provide a way to approve members and this doesn't seem to be high on their priority list. There are some workarounds which, whilst they aren't 100% effective and I wouldn't recommend them to protect personal or private information, may be enough for your situation to hide a store page and the products it contains. It would certainly offer significantly more protection than any third party products like SentryLogin and MemberSpace as these don't provide any real protection for Squarespace content.

Unfortunately, this isn’t possible with Member Areas because no ‘manual approval’ feature exists. Anyone will be able to sign-up by visiting the site and using a specific url slug - no matter what you do!
I’ve posted about this a number of times because it makes this feature totally unsuitable for around three-quarters 75% of situations where memberships are required, including bodies, societies and clubs, but Squarespace are not listening and do not seem to grasp how important this is.
I recommend you (and others reading this!) log a feature request with Squarespace. You can reach out to them here. I also recommend ‘liking’ and ‘voting up’ the questions about this, to raise the profile of this limitation. Here are some similar threads about this:

@cherylr You can only specify a font family in CSS if the font file has already been loaded in Squarespace. If you haven't selected the font in Site Styles then it won't be loaded or available to use in CSS. When you selected this font as the site title, this caused Squarespace to load the Alex Brush font, allowing you to use it in CSS.
If you hadn't specified it in Site Styles, you would have needed to load it manually using:
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Alex+Brush:400" media="all"> I hope this helps to explain 🙂

    What’s happening?
We’ve split the content of the Getting Started with Squarespace webinar into two separate webinars.
The first webinar in the series is called, Building a template and domains. This webinar is focused on getting your oriented with Squarespace and some backend items, like domains and email options. Topics include:
Building a template with Squarespace Blueprint  Navigating Squarespace  Domains and email options  Using help resources
The second webinar in the series is called, Site editing and styling fundamentals. This webinar is focused on getting you comfortable with Squarespace editing and styling tools. Topics include:
Preparing site content  Building and editing a homepage  Styling colors and fonts.  Both of these webinars are under one hour, and we hope the information is more digestible and effective.

    Why?
Customer feedback truly drives our webinars program. We’ve received feedback from viewers that the Getting Started webinar was hard to follow due to topic density and duration.
Your feedback informs so many improvements to our webinars, and we greatly appreciate all who took the time to share their experiences with us.

    Where/when can I watch?:
Register to watch these webinars on 2/20/204. If you can't make the scheduled sessions, on-demand sessions of both will be available.
Please note, a team member is on-hand during scheduled sessions to answer any questions that come in via chat. Any questions that come in during on-demand sessions are sent to our team via email, and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

The downside to modify font-size for single blocks using code is deciding where the tedium of customization ends. It is best to set up your font-sizes to work out of the box across your website, and by best I mean, it's an y easy rabbit hole to fall in and get distracted with. Speaking from experience.

@paul2009 oooh! Last time I checked your plugin (admittedly a ways back when trying to solve this problem) it was 7.0 only... didn't realise there was a 7.1 version now... however, in case you are not aware I just looked at the example sites you have there and when I select a different currency (GBP) some are displaying "GBPNaN" (e.g. little building company and  lage). I'm using Chrome on Mac if that is relevant.

paul2009 got a reaction from shipanna in How to add circle "sold out" sign as a sticker on a product photo
Yes, sure. You can change the colour of the caption by changing the "color" line. For example, black to white.
You can remove the background by removing the "background-color" line.
The font family and style are defined in your Site Styles panel but you could override them by specifying a font-family or a font-style.
Do post back if you need more help 🙂.

    Hi @shipanna 👋.
I'm not exactly sure what you mean when you say you'd like the "second and third" examples. Are you looking for a combination of different features?
To get you started, you can achieve rectangular badges on the images, with something like this:
    /* Rectangular Sold Out Badge */ /* on Product Images (v7.1)   */ .grid-meta-status .product-mark.sold-out {     position: absolute;     top: 10px;     right: 10px;     background-color: var(--tweak-product-grid-text-below-list-status-color);     color: black !important;     padding: 6px 7px; }

This is a feature of Fluid Engine sections where you can design your mobile layout independently from your desktop layout. This was a widely requested feature but designing both layouts does add a time penalty.
If you'd prefer to use the classic "LayoutEngine" editor where there isn't a separate mobile layout, you can still add page sections that use this instead. To use these, scroll down past all the new section options to choose the classic ones.

paul2009 got a reaction from e2astudio in Customize order confirmation page
You should be able to modify the message by replacing the CSS with something like this:
    #confirmed-page {   // Order Confirmed title   h1 {     font-size: 34px!important;   }   // Order details text   p {     font-size: 20px!important;   }   // Your purchase includes digital...   h3 {     font-size: 0!important;     visibility: hidden;   }   h3:after {     content: "To access your purchase, please click the link below. Thank you!";     font-size: 28px!important;     visibility: visible;     font-weight: bold;   }   // Link to digital content   a {     font-size: 20px!important;     color: blue!important;     border-bottom: 1px solid blue!important;   } }
    Update:
From 07 February 2023, this accepted solution will only work for gift cards, memberships and subscriptions. This is because Squarespace have replaced the Order Confirmation page with the Order Status page for physical, digital and service product purchases.

    Hi Anna
You can style the confirmation page by adding some CSS styles to Design > Custom CSS.
Here's an example showing how you could change the size of the various elements and style the link to be blue and underlined. You can edit this to suite your needs. I've provided some screenshots showing how these styles will affect the content. When selecting the font-size, bear in mind that larger text will push the link further down on mobile devices, often pushing it out of sight.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.
