  1. derricksrandomviews's post in Issue with Site Not Loading on Mobile Devices was marked as the answer
    Mobile view loaded quickly for me on my android phone, no lag at all. I suspect that if you are logged into your account and in config mode, it may not load as fast. It is always best to view as a visitor not as an owner when testing your site.

  2. derricksrandomviews's post in What happened to the "Gallery" block in 7.1? was marked as the answer
    7.1 has three different types of slideshows. The automattic one is  is called the Reel. Next best thing to auto transition in 7.0. Create a gallery section, edit it and choose reel or one of the other slideshow choices.

  3. derricksrandomviews's post in Falling snowflakes on webpage was marked as the answer
    Try this in advance header code injection. (it is the same code posted at the top of this thread)  If you add it under the setttings for the site it will snow on every page. The snow flakes will look a bit different than the code above. You can see it in action.  I may adjust it a bit to confine it to certain pages but for now you can take a look. https://myrandomviews.com/

  4. derricksrandomviews's post in Can't proceed with previewing site when switching to 7.1 was marked as the answer
    Start and home are the same page. You should see a home icon to the left of the home page under the website heading but not if you have that page selected. You can choose any page to be home in the settings for that  page. In your case, the mov file shows that the home page is down in the unlinked section of your site.

    I just searched again and you are still at the top of the page but the snippet changed to the following. There are some links looking for old pages but that can be remedied using a redirect: Squarespace vacant page url redirect.

  6. derricksrandomviews's post in Adding a blog section to Home page was marked as the answer
    That will work, add a new section to your site, add a summary block and put your blog in the unlinked section of your site if you want it off the nav bar.
  7. derricksrandomviews's post in Excerpt text - how to change was marked as the answer
    Sorry about that, your site looked like 7.1 to me. 7.0 does not have the same design options so this should take care of your text, place in custom css:
    .summary-excerpt p {
      font-size: 16px !important;
    }

  11. derricksrandomviews's post in DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN issue was marked as the answer
    Two things to look at .
    Add Squarespace defaults
    Squarespace defaults are DNS records that point your domain to your site. Your domain can stop connecting to your site if these records have been edited or deleted. If your domain is connected via DNS Connect, follow these steps to restore the defaults:
    Open the Domains panel. Click the domain you're working to connect. Click Edit DNS. Select Squarespace defaults from the Add preset drop-down menu. Click Add. Here is the complete guide fo all SS domain settings:https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/205812348#h_01GTF9SH0S33FWTK2NJETCNRZP 2 check this guide to set google mx records:

  12. derricksrandomviews's post in Duplicate Index Page was marked as the answer
    You can't duplicate an index page but you can duplicate pages in the index, create a new index page in the unlinked section of your site and put the duplicated pages in it, and make it look like the original one. Avenue which I use, works the same way. Project pages, I think, should work the same way. I think.

  14. derricksrandomviews's post in When a Page URL and Homepage are the same page....? was marked as the answer
    You could redirect using URL mappings or you can change your 404  not found page to send empty URLs to your homepage. I prefer to use that method.
  15. derricksrandomviews's post in Which 7.1 Template is Closest to 7.0 Brine Family Margot Template was marked as the answer
    7.1 was inspired by the Brine Family of templates to begin with but it seems there is no 7.1 starting design that is exactly like the 7.0 Margo template with horizontal scrolling. That being said any  7.1 template can be made to look like any other because in effect they are one template with a lot of style changes which is why you will not find a template switch option in 7.1   I suspect you are wanting to migrate your pie.me site to 7.1. I think a site with the look closest to yours is Malone in 7.1 The layout is similar in many ways to your Margot design.

  17. derricksrandomviews's post in Why I cannot find image animation in image>edit>design>animation???? Anyone knows the solution to the issue? was marked as the answer
    Animations are selected in the site style settings. Chose the paintbrush icon in the upper right-hand corner. Then choose animations. Any changes are site-wide.
  18. derricksrandomviews's post in Why don't I have a design menu on my site? was marked as the answer
    Access to the Custom CSS panel in 7.1 is now located in the Pages panel at the bottom in Utilities/Website Tools
  19. derricksrandomviews's post in Bloggin and Sending Notifications was marked as the answer
    There are a number of third party blog rss feed recipients that send out email notifications that can provide a link to your latest post and put it in an email reader. That is left up to the subscriber. One is follow.it which I use very successfully. My site is myrandomviews.com You should check it out. Follow.it is free.

  20. derricksrandomviews's post in How to remove underline in link in 'menu' was marked as the answer
    This should help, you can choose which code snippet to use, one for the entire site, or header or footer. It will replace the CSS snippet you used.

  21. derricksrandomviews's post in Blog post featured on 2 different blogs. was marked as the answer
    If you want blog posts to appear in the blog page and on a second page, then create a blog summary block on the second page, that page could be called reviews. When you create a new post in your blog, the summary block automatically updates and that post appears. You can give the summary block its own layout, it does not have to look exactly like your main blog page. You can filter out posts from your main blog to appear on the reviews page using categories or tags or both. In other words, any posts with the cat "review" would appear on the reviews page if the block filters your blog posts that have that cat assigned to them. The reviews page can be located in a second blog or on a standard page. A second blog works well if you have multiple categories like I do with a pull-down menu of those cats (subjects) for my readers to find. You can take a look at my setup here:   https://myrandomviews.com/blogsummary
  22. derricksrandomviews's post in Blog - featured image was marked as the answer
    If you go to settings featured image, choose the image editor, then crop. Underneath all the choices you will see custom, choose that, and then you can use the slider to crop just the left side of the image without any other part moving. This works for both 7.0 and 7.1.  It still may not do exactly what you want to center it, I thought it might be worth a try, however.
    What you might check is the image aspect ratio in the section editor and set the image aspect ratio to 3:2 or possibly widescreen. Also set the width to full not inset.
  23. derricksrandomviews's post in Accessing Blog Post settings without exiting post was marked as the answer
    You don't have to completely exit, just click the arrow in the upper right-hand corner, and the page menu comes up on the left, with the blog page,  and there you can choose post settings.

  25. derricksrandomviews's post in Home Page not working - cant edit (like its locked) was marked as the answer
    I can take a look if you like. I should be able to tell you if on 7.1 or on a 7.0 site. I have one question first, have you recently added any Custom CSS code?  Bad code snippets seem to be the root cause of things like this more than anything else.
