Can't redirect root domain

On Squarespace domains, I can't redirect the naked domain to the www domain. When I try putting @ (for the root domain) in the subdomain to forward from, and anything, whether it is https://www.tock.life/ or https://sites.google.com/view/tockapp, it errors and says

Unable to save this domain forwarding rule

This is still a problem for me as well; I can set up redirects on any subdomain name I want, but not for the root domain somehow, getting that totally unhelpful error message. I need to use domains as redirects to our Google Sites, which I have been able to do on Bluehost and on Google Domains, but I would be concerned if after Google Domains is fully transferred to Squarespace I would lose that capability.

Deleted my squarespace defaults under Edit DNS and still unable to redirect my root domain to my www subdomain. Any suggestions on what else I can try?

I had same issue, after deleting defaults DNS set, still cannot setup the domain forwarding (I have my own CNAME). After I delete my customized CNAME, then I was able to add the domain forwarding, however I cannot add my CNAME back, saying it's conflicting.

Contact their tech support, resolved by adding one more "A" in DNS setup, the IP is square's internal IP and I waited 2 days for the data populated:

@

A

N/A

198.185.159.144

Having the same problem. Has anyone been able to get in touch with Squarespace for support/a workaround? My existing subdomains seem to be forwarding fine but I can't add any new ones without getting the " "unable to save this domain forwarding rule" message.

Adding Custom DNS Record with Host "@," Type "A," and Data "174.129.25.170" seems to be a working solution for right now, as WWWizer gives a free naked domain redirect to www through it.

Try here: http://tock.life/

Still open for any other solutions though

This did work, however, I was getting HTTPS warnings. Definitely a good way to scare away business. Hope this gets fixed soon.
