Please stop recommending this as a solution, it's not.  You have to pay $40 per month if you want to give members free access.  You're not even trying at this point and just repeating worthless tips.  Read the posts from the users on these forums.  We need a method of having a page with private access that only select members can access, each with a unique password so we have the choice to remove members without having to reset the master password for everyone, and not charge fees for access.  Is it that complicated to understand, or better yet, is it that difficult to implement after all of these years?  Or does Squarespace simply not care???

Just wanted to chime in - member areas has great potential and it would be so convenient if it had a few more features. In its current state it's still not usable for most things.
There should be a variety of different walls not just a paywall. ie, paywall, agewall, employee wall, approval required wall.
There should also be a feature to invite members to join.
I say this with love because I love Squarespace wholeheartedly and have been a Squarespace designer for years. But it bums me out to see them launch new programs without fleshing out the existing ones.

Has Squarespace already ditched Member Areas support? There's been no sign of improvement in two years. It's still missing so many basic options it's ridiculous. The fact that "customers" have to sign up before they even get to their shopping cart is beyond words. That's just one of many, many issues. I have an entire list of missing features if anyone's interested compiling a list together on here.

Someone please tell me I'm wrong about this. Just spent countless hours building a website and multiple online courses only to find out SquareSpace requires potential customers to sign up for a Member Areas account BEFORE they even see gain access to their cart and the checkout process. This absolutely unbelievable. This might be the biggest flaw (out of many member areas flaws) I've seen. There has to be some sort of mistake. This is basically pissing money away. Come on Squarespace, this is utterly ridiculous. You must change this. #mindboggling

Managing membership access seems so basic, but still nothing has been done. It is a real world problem, and I feel the SQS team have not been listening or maybe fully understanding what a shortcoming this is commercially. Fiddling around the eye candy edges of the CMS is not what we need right now for our clients. SQS need to read through the 3 pages of feedback here.

2 years and still zero progress from squarespace. I will be changing CMS the second it's feasible.

    It shouldn't be this hard.

Has there been any updates as of yet?
Looking at setting up a members only pricing on my shop items. Hoping to allow customers to apply for a free membership but one that needs approval (check they are a legit trade customer) and then they would have access to a discounted price on existing items.
Also does anyone know if you can use the same inventory so the stock levels stay synced?
    Thanks

I have to add to the above comment and request for SquareSpace to improve the function for members' login. Do you think SquareSpace development team look at the forum here?
We created the website for condominium residents and bought the Members Area to provide info for residents. After all the pages were created, we realized that the default LOGIN can't prevent non-residents from creating accounts and getting access to private documents.
I have been on the support email for more than 24 hours with several emails going back and forth, no answers were given to satisfactory. First I was told to toggle off the LOGIN nav on the header and create a page with passwords. I can accept an alternative route but once toggle off, the ACCOUNT nav in the members' area is missing, which includes missing the ability to update email, passwords etc., and missing the SIGN OUT button too.

Be great to get some customer service on this. I didnt realise community engagement here was this bad, 2 years and no feedback from a rep? ... k
    Having same issue
When setting up emails in the email editor it says that we can enforce brand continuity - however the colours showing on customer emails are anything but my brand colours. I wanted a dark grey/blue and I got near white.
Once my subscription is up at the end of this year i'll most likely be taking my business elsewhere, almost £300 a year, wakeup out there yo 🥱

Still have this issue, it's really bad. At least introduce a simple option for providing darkmode colours. I'm assuming this not having been fixed leading to an issue on Gmail side. There should be some conversations as this doesn't bode well to both Squarespace and Gmail.
Redesigning still has issues, as you're just guessing as to what works.
Files are attached if they help anyone come up with a solution. All works as expected on Apple Mail.

Thanks for an honest answer. That's very unfortunate that they won't allow a reasonable pricing scheme for something so simple. Even if they cut the difference in half it would make it somewhat reasonable. It's double what I end up paying and there is no option to lower it on my end.

Why does Squarespace estimate shipping costs so ridiculously high? I selected Squarespace because it had calculated shipping costs as an option but my customers are turning away in droves because it costs more to ship an item (through Squarespace's calculated rates) than the products they are buying. Who wants to spend $20-25 in shipping for a $20 item? My rates just going through UPS on my own are almost half of what Squarespace's calculated rates are at. How can i reduce Squarespace's shipping calculation?
If you're answer is to set up flat rate shipping, that's ridiculous. How is a retail shop supposed to run a matrix of parts, boxes and destinations through UPS/USPS to calculate shipping costs? The task of creating a sample list alone will be more than cumbersome, let a lone trying to spend hours and days of setting up test shipments. There has to be a better way. I'm more and more tempted every month to switch platforms at this point.

It's interesting that Squarespace has a forum that they don't monitor or action on. I've said this in another post, they should be explicit about this not accounting for privacy. The term "member" implies privacy or exclusivity. This is just a subscription page. Those that are considering this feature, don't make the mistake I did by paying for it before understanding it's constraints (which aren't clearly communicated).

Being able to sort your products would be a good first start. Not having a sorting option built into the settings is a gross oversight. And then ignoring customer requests for years to add it...

It's November 2022 and this problem is STILL happening. What is the point of paying for these email campaigns if my customers cannot get the whole feel of my brand? Squarespace, please do something!

I pay Squarespace a decent amount of money and things don't work as well as they used to. For example ... I can't edit my website on my phone. The app is pretty much useless. And other features like this ... "It's not possible to use the Use Existing Gallery option in version 7.1. This option is only for gallery pages, which are only available in version 7.0."
When will Squarespace improve 7.1 to make things better for us?

Thanks. I was able to get that to work. The twcsl instructions were a little unclear. It doesn't mention that you need to upload the file to your site and then link to it. Once I did that, it seems to be removing the sold out items.

Is Squarespace listening? There are a handful a common sense eCommerce features are missing here. E.g, create and send an invoice, change billing / shipping address.
I contacted the the CS, I was told that the way to change addresses is to ask the customer to cancel then reorder with the correct address. This is absurd. You are asking the seller to loss the customer for such a simple thing to change.
It appears SS does not listen to their customers. Please, someone must try to order something on a actual eCommerce site and see it for themshelves.
