kellywilliamsphotographer
Hi. I am trying to increase the SEO visibility on my site. I have the Jasper Jin template installed. For my portfolio and stories sections (gallery pages), I would like to input a title and description for each image for the sake of SEO, but I do not want this information displayed in any way. Is this possible? I find that whatever I input into the individual image will be displayed on hover. Link to comment
SEOSpace_Henry
Hi @kellywilliamsphotographer - please could you send the page across so I can take a look? In general, for SEO, you only need to add alternative text (alt text) to images, so you might be able to get away without adding the title and description. Collaborada
Hi @kellywilliamsphotographer. Yes Jasper uses the title/desc as alt in some spots, but if desired you should be able to hide the text. See site styles. Indexes, toggle “show project captions.” Gallery page, toggle “show project captions.” Generally on 7.0 templates if you click an element on the page it does a good job of isolating the associated styles on the left. banartmann
I have sort of a similar question. How can I change the project Title all together? Link to comment
kellywilliamsphotographer
That's the problem. I have been in the site styles section and nothing is clicked to indicate that I want the information shown on the photo. Yet it still appears. Link to comment
kellywilliamsphotographer
If you go to this image: https://kellywilliamsphotographer.com/gallow-green-wedding/y5e13cgrh1sd7b37qafw8o4xm4aiga I have input a title that says 'test' and a description that says 'test test test' I don't want any of this to show, but can't find a way in the styles section to input, but publicly omit, this information. Collaborada
Hi @kellywilliamsphotographer. I see, that is a gallery vs project. Inserting CSS will work: https://forum.squarespace.com/topic/151871-hide-image-title-description-in-gallery-lightbox/ Have SEO questions? Chances are we've written about it! Solution kellywilliamsphotographer Posted February 2 Author Solution Share Posted February 2 Thank you! That solved the issue. Note, however, that Squarespace has now changed the location to find the custom CSS panel. You can now find it here: website --> pages --> utilities --> website tools --> custom CSS. Why did they need to change the location???? Collaborada 1 Link to comment
