Left side navigation - adjust margin of whole site

Hi, my site is https://wrasse-grouper-8fhf.squarespace.com/, password is squarespace.

I added custom code to show my navigation as a left sidebar. I have difficulty editing my site now, as it's "layered" under the navigation and hiding my page editing options. I have manually added padding to the homepage to show content on the right side of the navigation. But it's of course not very practical to do manually for each page.. and then still, I have to remove the code to edit pages. 

Is there any way to set the site margin for the whole site and align page content to the right, so that all content automatically has the right margin / padding? Currently the content on the homepage has a 300px padding on the left.

Thank you. I would however like to add an automatic left side margin to the site if possible, so I don't have to manually adjust each page I build. Is this possible?
