[Need Help] Cannot Remove Category from Store

Hi, I've come up to a problem where when I try to remove a category from the Store Advanced Settings, I just can't!
When I try to delete the category, it just doesn't work and it stays there even after I press "Delete". Please help.

It drives me nuts, I've been trying for a few hours. I emailed them but no response until Monday, at least... If someone can find something?

Im currently having the same issue. After I confirm 'delete' the category doesn't disappear. Any ideas on how to remove this bug?

Is it a case of making a new store from scratch then?

I'm having the same problem. Glad to find this forum if for nothing other than to know I'm not crazy. I've submitted a support ticket. I hope they fix it soon.

If you haven’t yet updated with that new 7.1  categories update (don’t, it’s terrible), then you can control the categories (delete, create, edit) in the “edit product” panel of the product itself. Or through the inventory list in commerce.

I have the same issue!

I contacted Customer Care and have been informed that only my site was affected and that they would need to look further into it. Now it's been about 2 weeks and still no solution.

This thread is from August 2020 when there was a temporary bug that prevented categories being deleted. This was fixed shortly afterwards.

If you are unable to delete a category today then the cause is not the same and I recommend that you contact Squarespace Customer Care directly.

same issue. how can i delete the categories? as well as items from my shop. I keep deleting but they still show up there.

Hi there I had this problem too I was so frustrated as a jewellery designer I wanted to change the categories to collections but it could not be edited or deleted in any of the available control areas.

I finally had success by going into every single product and removed / unclicked the boxes of these categories linked to the categories header. the only problem was that there were 7 deleted items still showing on there which I can never get rid of ( template examples i think) with categories linked  so I was sure it still would not delete HOWEVER once any links were removed you can delete categories!

I then went in an added a new category called Collections and added sub categories.

If you contact Squarespace Customer Support, they can delete the stubborn 'deleted' products
