What's new at Squarespace — June 2024

Recommended Posts

Check out everything new that happened at Squarespace in June below.

Commerce

Use Link by Stripe to streamline checkout

Link by Stripe is a handy digital wallet feature that saves and autofills billing information, making checkout quicker. Your customers can save their billing information and use it on all sites that support Stripe Link.

When enabled,  customers don’t have to use it if they don’t want to.

Please note, Link is only available for one-time purchases; it can’t be used for subscription purchases.

Add local delivery as a fulfillment option

At long last, you can now add local delivery as a fulfillment option. Providing local delivery can help you filter local purchases and offer a superior fulfillment experience to customers. As a note, customers will only see the option for local delivery if they enter an eligible shipping address.

View Donations data in the Analytics panel

Donations data is now tracked in the Sales panel of Squarespace Analytics so you can keep an eye on how your fund is performing.

New layout options for product details pages

You can now change the placement of your product descriptions and Add to Cart buttons on your product details pages:

  • Product descriptions - Choose to place them below the price, Add to Cart button, or variants
  • Add to Cart button - Choose to place it inline with the quantity or on its own line below

Before this update, long product descriptions could push purchase-related buttons lower on the page, requiring customers to scroll down to see them.

Accept South Korean won and Icelandic Krona

You can now set your store’s currency so that all Commerce charges (orders, taxes, and shipping) will process in South Korean won or Icelandic Krona

As a note, you can only accept one currency for your store at this time, but you can accept orders from anywhere in the world.

Websites

A new home for managing your digital products

We’ve added a Content and Memberships panel where you can manage your digital products (monetized blogs, Member Sites, and course and video pages) and pricing plans. If you don’t sell digital products yet, you’ll see steps to help you get started. If you sell digital products, you can get a quick view of performance metrics and manage your products through this panel.

Digital products used to be nested within the Selling panel. Now, if you sell digital content like courses, memberships, or other paywalled content, you can go straight to managing them faster— no more sifting through other options built for physical product sellers.

Acuity Scheduling

Automatically send receipts through the admin mobile app

Receipts will now be sent to customers whose payments are processed through the admin mobile app automatically. Prior to this update, payments that were processed through the app didn’t trigger the receipt to be sent.

A Donation page user option to choose donation frequency (one-time, monthly, etc.) is a charity standard practice. It would be great for Squarespace to add this option, rather than requiring the use of a third party like Donorbox...and chewing up donations with yet another fee.

  • 2 weeks later...

SS replaced "Folders" with "Dropdowns" which removes the slug from the "parent page" and now I can't have a page in my Navigation (Dropdown) connect (/) with its dropdown pages. Anyone know code to work it around?

Still no Tablet Viewport 😔 come on squarespace its 2024

I get your frustration. It’s surprising Squarespace hasn’t added a tablet viewport yet in 2024. It would make designing for tablets so much easier. Hopefully, they’ll update this feature soon. For those using Lightroom to display your photos, improved tablet support would be a real game-changer.
