As they’re available for other commerce products in your store I’m not too sure why this wouldn’t be available for subscription products as well. Anyone able to shed some light on this and maybe an indication as to whether this will be available in the future. Also if you’ll ever be able to have multiple abandoned cart emails or move this to Squarespace email campaigns as a specific automation 🙂 Link to comment

The abandoned cart notification isn't sent for subscription products because they are not added to the cart. When a customer wants to purchase a subscription they are sent directly to a subscription checkout page, skipping past the cart. This means there is nothing in the “cart” to trigger the email. When (if?)
