could use some feedback on a project

Hi!

So I've been trying for a long time now to find an elegant and working solution for this project I did. Basically I went out during the pandemic, while my city was working from home, and took pictures of people there, from the outside. Then, I let them write about how they lived through it, how they felt, etc.

What that means is this project has an image+text component. I can't for the life of me find a solution that's both elegant and practical. So I went with what I did here. A normal page with a square form gallery. I don't like it. Why? Because on some of the photos the text was so large it won't even fit my 1080p screen, with no option to scroll, unfortunately.

I doubt that this is the best way this kind of project can be shown on Squarespace but on researching my options I do not seem to be able to find something that is better.

Feedback would be helpful 🙂

I can make a couple of  suggestions. You could make it a bit more stylish by clickthru linking each of  your portfolio images to a blog post about that image. This would give you a better looking text block as opposed to using the description caption for each image, the other option is to use blog summary block arranged in a grid or wall with no text or "read more" button and this will imitate a gallery but when you click on the image you would get a full picture with text block underneath. I have a couple of photography sites built on Wexley, this one uses the blog page as a gallery of weddings and allows Christine to add a bit of story about the shoot.

I use the summary idea on my site, but I do include a read more button and some text excerpt from each post. Summay blocks  in 7.0 are very flexible and can be designed all kinds of ways and making a page that looks like a Wexley gallery page would not be difficult.

The blog post thing is actually a good idea. Elegant, simple, you see the gallery, you click through and you get the text. Easily digestible as the content is very long. Hmm!

I suggest that you put the blog page you use to link to your images in the unlinked section of your site. It will not appear on the Nav bar which will keep your content from being duplicated so to speak.
