A developer cannot add Afterpay to Squarespace Commerce because they will not have access to the parts of Squarespace where payments are managed. You'll need to wait until Squarespace add Afterpay but they do not comment on when new features will be added.

Update February 2021: Squarespace added Afterpay as an option in the US, Australia and New Zealand, with Canada to follow. Squarespace haven't commented on why it is not available in the UK.

Afterpay is only available in three countries.  Will it be rolled out in more countries that also work with Stripe?

German consumers overwhelmingly prefer buy now /pay later as their payment choice and not having it available here makes my services much less competitive for online shop creation.

Afterpay is an Australian company and their "buy now, pay later" (BNPL) services are not available in Germany.

There's no suggestion (at least none yet) that Squarespace plans to add any other BNPL solutions such as Klarna, in addition to Afterpay and PayPal.

@paul2009 please help?

So I've activated the AfterPay with the toggle switch as advised.

My clients go through AfterPay check out but then get NO order confirmation page. Squarespace lands them back on the check out page instead of confirmed order.

I've checked with Stripe and the payment went through as not captured. Once I clicked Capture within Stripe, it worked but:

  • customer is still not getting the receipt from Squarespace
  • stock levels are not impacted
  • no order number

Can we get some support with this? Spoke to Stripe directly and it seems the plugin at Squarespace end is not working correctly as payment goes through not captured.
