Adding a student discount option

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Does Squarespace commerce have a plugin or option to offer a student discount? My company is coming from Wordpress's WooCommerce. I was previously able to find a plugin that would verify a customer's email as a .edu domain, and apply a discount to their order. Is it possible to implement such a system on Squarespace?

Thanks much!

Customers provide their email address on the checkout page. Unfortunately Squarespace do not allow us to add code (or plug-ins) to the checkout page so it is not possible to validate the email address and apply a discount.

The only workaround is to use a newsletter block where users are prompted to enter their email address before they reach the checkout. With some JavaScript you can check if the email address is a correctly formatted address and, if it is, automatically email them a discount code using Campaigns.

Can you have two separate newsletter blocks and two different target audiences? So one for EDU address and one for non-edu email address?

At the moment, I have a discount to anyone who signs up for my newsletter/subscription. But I would like another one for EDU email address only and I can give a higher discount.

Yes, you can set up different mailing lists and connect them to different Newsletter Blocks. Subscriber activity automations are connected to mailing lists. They are triggered by subscribers signing up for the mailing list.
