  1. Dont think they will implement this, it's been 3 years since the first post, I switched to shopify which has COD, or you take the payment later on after the sale been made. Also if you think about it, why would SS implement COD or similar? They don't get any incentives, commission or payment from Stripe from customers and businesses who prefer this method. The work around for squarespace is offer a 100% off discount
  2. I run a business that sells and delivers locally, I switched to Shopify and this is my honest feedback on why I switched. Please note this is NOT a diss to Squarespace (SS). Please note I am a cake maker and sell and deliver locally. This feedback will prob be useful to other business owners that sell locally too. I joined Squarespace in June 2021 and paid for the top plan. I will try be direct and constructive as I can without adding fluff. First Impressions On Who To Pick Squarespace Easy to use navigation, easy to read FAQ, alot of design options. This is why I went with SS to start my local business ventures. Shopify Quite intimidating with all the options, editing a homepage was confusing at first, editing CSS was annoying, I was overwhelmed with all the options and the user interface wasn't as nice as SS. Comment As a person starting their first online store, SS was the best choice for me as I wanted to test my online store and see how it would turn out. Page Speeds SquareSpace People have warned me SS servers are slow and clunky, even though I tried SS best practice on how to minimise a page's size, it was still slow to my liking Shopify Appears way faster and has apps to even further push your pages faster by pre-loading pages when a customer hovers over a link COD (Cash on delivery) Squarespace Does not offer COD, I assume they don't offer this because there are no fees and SS can't financially support this feature. Shopify Does which can be helpful as I got a few orders which I would not with SS. Apps Squarespace Lacks apps but SS does try build the apps in their platform so users don't need apps. But still lacking. Shopify The amount of Apps Shopify has is abundant and you can pretty much find anything you want for your site and for your budget. I have multiple free apps. The downfall of this, if the company or the creators of the app shut down, you are forced to find an alternative. Too many apps can slow down your site and if the apps server is down, your site can not load. For example: I had a postcode checker app and their server crashed, my website didn't load for a good 30 seconds or more...... I decided to get rid of that app and find an alternative. Apps can get costly over time if you do need paid multiple apps. But if you do your research, you can try get free apps suited to your needs Customisation (CSS, JAVA, HTML) Squarespace Has one section of CSS which is useful and you can see your change in real time when you enter your CSS. Shopify Can be quite difficult to navigate and locate as different themes have different names for their CSS, themes, HTML and JSS. You also have to write your code, save then in another window, wait a few seconds then refresh to see if it actually works. This is quite annoying. Also you have to duplicate your theme and make sure you don't break your site (which is fine, but fiddly) New Pages Squarespace Squarespace is very easy to add new pages and edit. Very easy and pleasing experience. Shopify Has the worst process in making new pages (such as a FAQ page or a contact us page), I had to install an app to make new pages and I am afraid if that app shutsdown, I will have to start from scratch from another app. Discounts Squarespace Customers can stack product and delivery discounts! Which is amazing.... Shopify Can NOT have customers stack discounts. It's only 1 discount at a time. Additionally, only 1 automatic discount can be running which is annoying. I cannot have a free delivery automatic discount, paired with buy 2 get one at 50% off discount...... you will need to install an app and from research, all stackable discount apps you have to pay...... Design Squarespace One of the best design platforms I have used, its easy and has alot of features to really make a dynamic, creative website Shopify Technically bound to the theme you have chosen. There are free themes, but they are really basic in terms of design. You have to pay alot of money for a unique theme and even then, it limits you. You either have to install an app or get a designer to help you which cost even more money. Local Delivery Squarespace Does not have a local delivery options to certain zip/postcodes and can not offer different rates based on distance. Shopify Has inbuilt local delivery where you can set rates to different areas, furthermore there are plenty of apps that enhances this feature even more! Price Squarespace I paid $624AUD for the top, advance commerce yearly plan with no additional adds such as the e-marketing addon Shopify I paid $470AUD for the basic yearly plan + $318AUD for adds I need, totally to $788AUD per year. Different $164AUD more than SS. Community Squarespace Quite small which is expected and its a shame the admins or staff do NOT monitor the forums which addresses alot of SS issues. Some forum posts can't be answered because there's only a small number of people that know the answer. Shopify The community is large and when I post of the forums, I get an answer within hours with a fix, though I had more difficult questions some people can't answer but I look elsewhere such as reddit or google. Overall Thoughts Squarespace I think SS is a good platform for people to show off their portfolios, digital products, services and products very minimal variants such as maybe electronics, non-custom jewellery, soaps, lotions etc...... As I bake cakes, I need customers to have full control of customisation and SS really lacks a user friendly interface for this. I had alot of workarounds and agreements a customer should tick. With Shopify, they dont need to tick an agreement because the interface was straight forward. SS to me is like a gated community where SS tries to control the user (you, the business owner) in their way of thinking, doing and seeing. You can confined by SS rules and design and there's no room to think outside the box. Shopify Vastly caters to e-commerce business owners, alot of apps, customisation and help when needed. It's quite open source where a user can see help and implement their ideas. Businesses that sell locally and businesses that has products that can be fully customisable as there are apps to further expand on your products should use Shopify not SS as it offers COD and local delivery options. If you guys like to see the difference between my SS and Shopify stores, here it is, I linked a cake product and you can go through the buying process on both and you can be the judge on which has the better buying process for a customer: Enter Postcode 2000 which is part of the buying process Squarespace: https://onyxhive.squarespace.com/cakes/p/cosmos Shopify: https://www.onyxhive.com.au/products/cosmos
  3. Thanks, thought I'd ask but Squarespace is becoming the worst commerce platform. I should have went to Wix or Shopify, but I'll jump ship soon. Been with Squarespace for about 9 months and for a company that offers 3 commerce plans, it lacks alot of shipping, local delivery options. I mean, pick up option was only added last year and this option should have been a basic option from the start. Just disappointing with so many limitations. It's also highly concerning that the Squarespace team DOESNT monitor or get ideas and feedback from the forums, it's like they don't want feedback from its customers that pays them their paycheck and make a better platform.
  4. Site URL: https://onyxhive.com.au Hello I have a minimum spend on my website at $79 but I will soon start selling items that don't need the minimum spend such as an item for $40. How can these items bypass the minimum spend amount?
  5. Happened to me again today Customer paid via afterpay, went through her end but "uncaptured" and declined on the checkout on my end. Then she paid via credit card.... only to notice her 1st payment went through... FML Why is stripe or squarespace like this?
  6. This is one of Squarespace huge downfall. They don't offer area, state or postcode specific shipping or delivery like Shopify or wix. This has been requested 10000000 times over the years and Squarespace is doing nothing about it. This should be a default option! I'm having the same trouble. I wish I knew this about Squarespace, it's really sad. I have sent multiple tickets about this with multiple forum links too to them as well. Hopefully they get it in their big fat head businesses need this.
  7. Site URL: https://onyxhive.com.au Hello, I have a date picker in my additional forms when a product is added to the cart. Since squarespace is so limited with shipping options, I need the date picker I already have to change to different set of requirements. For example: Customer adds cake to cart Pop up appears as per normal Customer selects "Victoria” state from the first drop down menu (I will have to add this) The calendar changes to a whole new set of options and disables Saturday and Sunday delivery If customer selects “new south wales” The calendar changes back and enables Saturday and Sunday delivery Any similar date pickers out there or how can I implement this? Thanks
  8. shouldn't it be in SS best interest to apply postcode and area postage and shipping options? It's more money to SS and it retains businesses in the SS brand.
  9. Site URL: https://onyxhive.com.au/cakes/p/eros Is there any way in the inventory, custom form section, if I insert a "text" form field option, for example "enter your postcode", when they enter a postcode, a text popup will appear underneath it like a warning. For example: - Customer adds cake to cart - Customer types 3000 as a postcode in the text field - A warning will say after its typed "sorry, we do not delivery to your area". Thanks
  10. Yes. I had to fiddle around with it. Any idea on point 2or3?
  11. Site URL: https://onyxhive.com.au Hey guys, So my domain server host changed their server on their end and they had to re-config my e-mail through webmail and outlook which is all good. I can send and receive e-mails from my work domain email info@onyxhive.com.au from other sources such as gmail, hotmail and so on.... but not im NOT getting any squarespace e-mails at all. For example, I usually get e-mails that I have a new order, but now after the server changed, I am not getting the emails anymore. Not even in junk or spam folders. Even when I sent test e-mails to from campaigns, order confirmation emails to info@onyxhive.com.au, I am not getting them now. I send the test emails to my personal gmail and hotmail account and I have resent confirmations to customers and they are getting them. But only squarespace emails I am not not receiving. I have spoken to the person hosting my e-mail and he said there's nothing blocked and there's no blacklist or any rules in-place to block any e-mails. What could it be?
  12. Site URL: https://onyxhive.com.au Hello, I manage to get my instagram slideshow a bit more presentable and how I would like it on my page. A few things im stuck on; How do I centre my arrows of the slideshow? It's currently floating on top of the picture on the left and right, I would like it moved down to the centre of the pictures How do I activate to enable touch scrolling left and right on mobile? The same function as my google reviews, where my thumb can scroll left and right with the reviews, I would like this with my instagram slideshow How to make arrows more repsponsive and faster so it changes pictures faster (like my google reviews arrow)? It seems the picture has to reach the middle first then the user can press the arrow again to move to the next picture. I want users just to keep clicking fast, before the picture gets to the middle. This is quite clunkly...... If you thumb scroll on my google reviews, you can just keep scrolling with zero delay. I need this. Thanks
  13. No i haven't I would still like the instagram to be a full width slideshow like the image block slideshow Edit: I manage to get it somewhat presentable.
  14. Here's my feedback: Get a higher quality profile picture, the one you're using is quite blurry. Contact: "LETS TALK ABOUT ART AND DESIGN!", the right word is "LET'S" with an apostrophe Same with "Lets make it happen!" It's "Let's
