  1. [Edit: thanks to whoever moved my post into this thread, which I hadn't seen before - I don't know if I'm more glad to know I'm not alone, or upset that it looks like there's nothing I can do] Upon testing, my page performance is poor even for the absolutely most simple page on the website, which just has text and a few small images. Looking in the details, it's all due to Squarespace stuff (the third party stuff is Squarespace and Adobe typekit). I'm using template 7.0 Montauk. Is this affecting my Google rankings? (They are good for the main pages, but could improve for others.) And is there anything I can do to improve matters? (Sorry if there's a place for this type of question - I did look but couldn't find anywhere that looked more appropriate.) Also, I was hoping they'd do a migrate tool for Montauk (the site is WAY too big to do it manually) ... if they did, might moving to a more modern template help with this?
  2. For anyone looking for this info, see here: https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038270572-Moving-from-Squarespace-version-7-0-to-version-7-1?platform=v6&websiteId=56d845f922482efd8c173d16 You can now migrate to 7.1 from 7.0 Brine or Bedford family templates.
  3. Thanks for the reply. I know they are downgrading backlinks now, but am not sure how intrasite links are judged. But I have a feeling I read somewhere it's baaaaad if there aren't any.
  4. Total beginner's question here, but my collaborator (the site owner) created a not-linked page yesterday, not enabled, and I can't see it in the page list. But he can see another no-linked unenabled page that I created - I can't work out what the difference is. Any ideas? I need to edit his page! Thanks, Jenny
  5. I've used not-linked pages to aim for specific Google keywords / search contexts to get people into the website. Usually, but not always, the page is also linked from the main content so is findable from there. This has worked really well for me - one of these pages is now the prime way I get traffic from Google (it's not even that great a page, but people get into the rest of the site from there and stay). Question - if I have a not-linked page that also has no links from the main content, does that kill its Google rankings? I have one page like this and it has been a real dud - but it was a bit of a punt anyway so it could just be that it was a bad idea in the first place.
