Work around for a Search Bar on a Member Area page?

Have to say, it is hugely disappointing that content you build in a member area is non-indexable for on-site search. Memberships are so content-led now, this seems disastrous. Any idea if it's on a feature roadmap? Is it because on-site search is Google-licensed? -
Capture email before customer creates Members Area account

Would also love an answer to this - having serious problems with new members signing up but not being captured for email marketing.
