Add text/copy in the header

I'm working on an event website and would like to have the date/location appear in the header. I've played around with CSS but I can get it to work. I've attached the original design requested. Any help would be much appreciated. 

We can use JS code to add this text. Or you can design an image, then we can use CSS code to append image to that position.
