Adding text overlay without code?

Hi all,

I have a grid on my homepage and want to add a text overlay, preferably without using CSS and I'm too much of a novice. My portfolio is "grid overlay" but there doesn't seem to be the option to save this section and apply it to another page.

Questions:

 - Is there a way to add a grid overlay to a page other than my portfolio? I can't work out why this is an option there but it's not listed amongst the other grid options.

 - If not, is there a way to add an overlay with text, without using code?

Just to add that I'm using 7.1. I've found the option in the classic editor where you can "add caption as overlay" but I'd like a semi opaque tint over the images and the text centered, as per how I have it on my portfolio. Screenshot attached.

We can use some line of code to change overlay color + make text center, if you share link to page where you added classic editor image, we can help easier

It is for the attached x3 images and I would like the rollover text for each image to be:

Left image: Family Home, Sydney

Centre image: Bachelor Pad, London

Right image: Victorian Apartment, London
