Create a page on a Squarespace subdomain with that page showing the whole subdomain URL

Recommended Posts

Good morning all.

I've created and connected a subdomain to my Squarespace site following the guidelines given by Squarespace support (see here: Connecting a third-party subdomain to your Squarespace site).

Now, I understand that subdomain.website.com directs to website.com, but what I'd like to do is to replace one of my pages (website.com/page1) with this subdomain, so when a user clicks on it, the full URL is displayed, like this:

  • Menu item 1: Home (website.com)
  • Menu item 2: Subdomain (was website.com/page1, now replaced by subdomain.website.com). It is important that the URL shown for this page is the full subdomain URL.

Is anyone aware of how to achieve this? Thank you in advance!

Miguel

Start a second website, link the subdomain.website.com to it, then use that as the link from the first site.

SS does not support complex masked forwarding within the same site.

You can also use these settings to forward a subdomain. This is useful if you have an element of your brand on a second site, like a store or blog, that you’d like to direct to another site.

Forwarding a Squarespace domain.

to have a separate website page connecting to a subdomain.website.com, you would have to pay for a 2nd subscription plan to start a 2nd website link to the subdomain.website.com is the only way?

What is the URL of the separate website page?

If you express what you want in terms of URL a needs to do X and lead to URL b, we might be able to help.

Hi @creedon I have the same desire, would prefer not to pay for another Squarespace Subscription.

My website is https://www.betterbrandscreative.com
I would love if https://church.betterbrandscreative.com could replace https://www.betterbrandscreative.com/church instead of the redirect.

Domain is hosted on Squarespace.
Template is hosted on 7.1 Fluid Engine.

If it truly is impossible without a second Squarespace Subscription, then so be it.
But I thought it might be worth the ask.

Thank you for your time in Advanced! You are a genius!!!

Yes, it seems this feature of domain masking is not possible on squarespace.  Even if you have your DNS at Godaddy or third party.   Once you setup the forwarding with masking on godaddy it changes from cname to A Records and then the page is no longer displayed, and squarespace no longer recognizes the domains.

Seems others have been trying this.
