Forward subdomain with subdomain.root.com to a specific page

My site is on Squarespace 7.1

Is it all possible for a subdomain with two dots like (for example a similar URL of subdomain.root.com) to be directed of forwarded to a certain page on the same site. So subdomain.root.com then is directed to root.com/page. I know I've read on a support page you can't but I thought from prior version of Squarespace you could go to a "presets" to redirect to a specific page in "Advanced Settings". See link below. Has "URL mapping" replaced this? Is it possible to redirect in the URL mappings in this manner?

Currently, I have subdomain.root.com just pointing to the homepage of root.com.

No. If you have multiple domains (or subdomains) connected to Squarespace website, they will all redirect to the same page of the domain that's set as the primary.

If your domain host isn't Squarespace and it supports masked redirects (URL cloaking or domain masking) then you'd be able to do this using their settings but this would put the masked page inside an iframe and this may have issues for responsiveness on different devices. 

 Domain names aren't as important as they once were. Using the subdomain special.root.com isn't any better than root.com/special. 🙂
