Help please. Why can't I add single spaced text to a block

Hi everybody.  I'm very new to this and have what I assume is a rookie problem.  I need to add names to an alphabetized list that sits in a block on our website.  But I can't keep single spacing when I try to type in the new names; it seems to automatically double space the new entries.  I've tried copying in plain text, but got the same result.  Can anyone help?

Try using shift and enter after each name, instead of enter.
