Searching orders by custom form answers

I have custom forms enabled on some of the items in my online store. I set them up in such a way that you can designate someone else as a recipient (e.g. buying a gift in someone else's name). I can't search orders by these custom form answers despite them being stored as values in the exported order file.

In fact, the native search function is pretty lackluster and doesn't allow me to sort by SKU, Payment Status, buyer ZIP, etc.. Is there some way to replace this search function or alter it to return what I need to quickly search for what I need without exporting the orders.

Only Squarespace can change the search function as it is being done on their servers which we don't have access to.
