SimonRMiddleton
Site URL: http://talktoloop.org Hello and thank you in anticipation for your help... if anyone knows the answer. I have been adding alt text to my images on this website http://talktoloop.org But the alt text doesn't seem to be working... One of my colleagues thinks it might be because the images are built as div not img ... this is a semantic difference to the browser, so the browser doesn’t understand that it’s an image, which is bad I don't know if that's correct... but something is preventing Alt Text from working. Any ideas gratefully received. Link to comment

SimonRMiddleton
Hi Paul2009 My accessibility-focused colleague says the al text isn't appearing. But I've subsequently re-entered everything. It's working for you yes? Thank you Link to comment
SimonRMiddleton
Hi again paul2009 We can see the alt-text is there also when I check for alt-text, but when I use a screen reader to actually navigate through the site, the screen-reader only picks up this div.image-overlay element. Do you know if Squarespace is putting some overlay on images by default in card elements? Link to comment
paul2009
When a Squarespace feature isn't working as expected it is best to get straight in touch with Squarespace Customer Care. The forum community would love to help but we are unable to resolve technical issues with the platform. You can reach out to Customer Care using this link. Do let us know how you get on. SimonRMiddleton
Thank you Paul. I have now contacted Customer Care. Originally I thought I was doing something wrong... hence posting on the forum. But I'm certain I've set everything up correctly. Now waiting to hear from CC. Thanks again Simon paul2009 and creedon 2 Link to comment
ae_1
Hi @SimonRMiddleton, I think I'm having the same issue you had. Alt text is entered, but it isn't appearing if I inspect the element on Chrome. Did you find a fix? Many thanks! Link to comment
