captions not being imported during image upload

Recommended Posts

I came across at an old post saying that he can embed the metadata into images and batch upload to Squarespace successfully...

Sanity check:

- I tried to upload those images with metadata import enabled and the title/description is imported as expected. You can check on this page

- I used the 2 images that has metadata included

This is part of the effort to find a workaround for this issue using Javascript, but it is turns out magically works for me. Can someone please try and confirm?

Hello Everyone;

I modify image metadata (title and description) before uploading them to Squarespace gallery pages. This used to work just fine last year. Here is an example of a gallery I created late last year:

https://iranphilately.org/certificates/2022-10/

When you hover over the image in the lightbox, you see the correct title and description. I was trying to add a new gallery today and have a couple of issues:

1- Using my previous method, the description is correct when I add a file to a gallery page, but the title shows the filename instead of the title in the image metadata.

2- if I upload the image directly to a folder in the asset library and add it to the gallery, none of the meta data seems to appear.

I have attached a screenshot of the image in the new galley and a screenshot of the image metadata:

https://iranphilately.org/certificates/2022-12/

This used to work just fine last year for me, so I am puzzled since nothing in my workflow has changed.

Thank you in advance.

I got the following message back from support:

Thanks for contacting us about this. We're currently investigating an issue where metadata does not import in supported sections and blocks. We’ve noted your report with our Engineering and Design teams for review. They’ll use this feedback when creating fixes and improvements for future releases.

if anyone is using the metadata, it would be good to check to see if new imports are having the same issue as I described.
