mariadelamo
Site URL: https://www.lakeandmarioncatholicschools.org Hello! Would love some feedback on this website. Also, any ideas on how to fix the white line on the header right before the menu bar. Initially I thought it was the message bar but that is disabled. I have checked on several browsers and it is still there. I would like to remove it since to me it looks like a distraction. Thoughts on how to do that? Thanks!!! Link to comment
sheriipop
I don't see the white line you're talking about. Attached below is what I see and it looks perfectly fine to me 🙂 Link to comment
mariadelamo
Thanks! I figured it out. It was a piece of code in the CSS. But overall, it looks good? Link to comment
JoelleM
Hi Maria School comms is my specialist subject! Overall I think the design looks really good. The colours, typography, photos, copy and messaging all tie together cohesively and gives a distinctive sense of the schools and values. It could be a little more polished in places. There's a clear sense of what you're about. A mishmash of suggestions: There seems like rather too much vertical spacing in some pages, common on Squarespace The six icons on the homepage look !huge! on my wide monitor, as well as on mobile when they stack - can you reduce the size of these a bit? Photos vary in quality a bit, I'm sure you know - and its always hard! The About us page one is very fuzzy. Academics page - some headers here in all caps that don't match the site Watch the formatting on mobile, some of it isn't looking as hot on a narrow screen Four steps to a better education blue section - I really feel this is missing the ability to actually respond to this powerful call to action. It would be great paired immediately with somewhere I could actually tell you those things. The 'book a tour' thing below is related but not the same. For me, it's missing real stories and people that give it emotional pull and authenticity - who are the team who make it happen and why are they inspiring? What real impact has it had on specific students or alumni whom I might identify with? Maybe develop the blog to include really good storytelling content that brings it all to life a bit. And don't call it blog but something that describes what it does 'our impact' or 'student stories' or something, I dunno. Youtube embeds - these look way nicer if you add a custom thumbnail Are you missing a trick here on teacher recruitment? That's going to be one of the main things we want to drive with the schools partnership sites I'm working on at the moment I feel like there's an 'admissions/ how to join' type page missing too - beyond the contact box, there's not a whole heap of guidance for parents on joining the schools Hope that's helpful. Good job! Joelle Link to comment
Spark_Plugin
Most of the design looks good @mariadelamo 😊 Here are a few improvements: Decrease the height of the image slider. Add a heading where the image slider is now, and explain shortly what the school do. Decrease the height of the header. Make the icons a lot smaller. I don't know about your computer skills, but one way to make the icons smaller is to add transparent sides (in e.g. photoshop).
