  1. Removed the CSS for the section dividers for now to fix glitching
  2. Hi everyone I've had fun/frustration building this prospectus mini-site in fluid engine and trying to make it really creative. I thought I'd share since I was looking for inspiration at the start of this project and couldn't find that many examples yet. I'm a creative dabbler not a pro, and this is my first site with fluid engine so would be very happy for any feedback. https://prospectus.ryburnsixth.co.uk/ The good: I found some stuff really nice to use, especially the text sizing and block layering, and I love the control of editing for mobile separately. This site looks so much better on mobile than I've managed before with the old editor. The bad: Some stuff seems glitchy and annoying. Some text 'flickers' on mobile, the carousel pictures don't load quickly. In the editor, once my page started getting long, it leaps all over the place when you hit edit, rather than keeping to your place. There's also weird side scroll background thing going on too which I think is from the section dividers code I used. There's a bit of CSS - custom header font, some section dividers (thanks Chris Schwarz-Edmiston), some video block tweaks (thanks @joseph81), a couple of words made vertical in mobile, but as far as I could I've tried to exploit the in-built features.
  3. Ah @joseph81 it works perfectly! You superstar, thank you ever so much.
  4. Does anyone know how to change the aspect ratio for video player? I'm using the uploaded-to-Squarespace video option in fluid engine and wanted to get a fun little gallery of 4-5 talking head video shorts, using a 4:5 aspect ratio. I can upload videos in that aspect, and when actually playing it (desktop) looks as I want it to, but the video controllers are in a 16:9 shape, and so is the cropped thumbnail before you hit play. And on mobile it keeps the 16:9 ratio so the video is too small, when a 4:5 should look good on mobile with the videos stacked. If I make the video block the right shape, it just shrinks the video inside it right down with a gap top and bottom. It feels like there should be a 'design' tab in the video block to control how it looks. So frustrating! Site https://digital-prospectus.squarespace.com/ Password: Dani123 - forgive the random appearance, it's in 'playing with ideas' stage at present. Screenshots: 1 and 2 are the thumbnail and video controls showing how it forces a wider aspect ratio. The third one is what it looks like whilst playing, this is how I want it to look. 4 is playing in mobile - it shrinks down because it is using the too wide video block.
  5. Hi everyone I'm planning on giving fluid engine a go for a mini site - we are making a digital prospectus so have some freedom to play with design and format. I want to use lots of textures and collage effects, so I think it might lend itself. I'd really love to see any examples of pages and design ideas built in the new system, whether published sites or just experiments - has anyone been playing with it and pushing it to its limits? I'm worried about making mobile version look brilliant (very important for our age 16 audience) and site loading times. If anyone has any tips or warnings there.
  6. Ah thank you Paul! That's really helpful. Yes I managed to half remember / half guess what the end of the old CNAME was and get it connected back to the old site, phew. I don't think I can manually change the TTL within 123-reg unfortunately. I now realised I should have connected it first before initiating the transfer. The last few sites I've done were all .co.uk and transferred within an afternoon. *Channelling patience*
  7. Site URL: http://www.melthammoor.org - How to find the CNAME host/alias code - Aargh! Can anyone help in the few hours before Squarespace helpdesk opens? Currently my client's site is down. I'm transferring a domain to Squarespace from 123-reg, began process on Friday and waiting, but 123 said it can take up to a week. So I thought, maybe whilst waiting I can at least connect the site on 123 to the Squarespace site so at least the new site goes live. But without doing the 'connect' process on Squarespace, I can't see the unique code for host/alias referred to in the guide. And with just the other @ and www records it won't connect. Is there any way to find that code? And I am having trouble even setting it back to their old site as my screenshot of the previous DNS settings as it chopped off the end of the www record. So now the site is down 😱 I also have to make sure I don't break their email - so far all fine. I've not touched the records related to that, and they already automatically appeared on Squarespace seeming ready for launch. No matter how many sites I launch this mysterious part really stresses me out!
  8. Ah thanks very much. I've got it working on a 7.0 Bedford site (tested at www.rvhs.co.uk/new-page-2) but it's still not autoplaying on the 7.1 site for some reason.
  9. Hi Nick @NickIppolito Ah I'm so glad you posted this! Good fix to the Squarespace update as I really like to include a ?rel=0 and get rid of spammy related videos. I'm not sure if I did something wrong as it won't autoplay or loop (and I have sound whether I set to mute or not), but the size seems to be working ok. (Top is video block, underneath is the embed block) www.meltham-moor.squarespace.com/welcome PW - More123 I've used this code <iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/6LVyy7LeC5Y?rel=0&?&autoplay=1&mute=1&controls=1&loop=1" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; " allowfullscreen></iframe>
  10. @tuanphan I've tried your code above to fix the same problem, but it didn't seem to work alas. Trying with a list on this page, but want a site wide rule https://together-learning-trust-new.squarespace.com/join-our-trust PW: David123
  11. In case anyone comes along with a similar weird problem to mine - with a nudge from @bangank36 as to the cause - I fixed this by switching the site language from UK English to US English, then the code worked. Thanks @bangank36 and @creedon for your help.
  12. It doesn't let me duplicate it since its a blog page maybe, only the posts? I don't mind faffing with it, it's not live yet. I've added it to code injection only on this page now instead of in site settings: https://together-learning-trust-new.squarespace.com/news-views Thanks for looking, I appreciate it.
  13. I took it off as it wasn't working right. I'll add it back - used your code with dd mmmm yyyy dateformat, then tried @creedon's above, but in both cases it was not affecting all posts on the blog page. I'll pop it back on now so you can see. Edit: now done.
  14. Hi @creedon, thanks you so much for taking the time to think about this, I appreciate it. There's still one inconsistency on the blog page. I've now got dd-m-yyyy throughout (summary block, posts) but the first post on the blog page has dd-mm-yyyy and the other 3 have dd/mm/yyyy. Weird huh? Edit: I've tried updating dateformat to dd mmmm yyyy, and there's still an inconsistency going on with the blog page. Tried changing date of that post to 11 April (to see if the single digit might be the issue, the others are all 2 digit dates), and that had it change to 4 November on the blog page (11 April on summary block/blog post), so it is confused!
