complex quantity variants

Recommended Posts

Site URL: https://www.ladyhestereats.com/order/4original

Hi! My brain is going around and around with this. Hopefully I can explain it OK.

I'm selling donuts, we offer packs. So individual, 4 pack, 24 pack and 40 pack. We offer 4 flavours, which change weekly. I want the customer to be able to click '4 pack' then be able to select which flavour they want and how many of each.

Atm, people just add it in as a note.

any suggestions/help??

It would be difficult to do this with variants because of the quantities involved and the weekly changes. You are almost there with your current setup, but it could be a little clearer. For example, if I arrive on your site from a search and land directly on a product page like https://www.ladyhestereats.com/order/4original, I have no idea what the available flavours are. The text area box on the custom product form does not help because it is not specific enough. Customers could type anything - “send me 6 raspberry jam and the rest with sprinkles”.

I recommend editing the Custom product form to remove the text area box where customers can type anything and replace it with four text boxes, one for each flavour. You can then name the four boxes “How many Turkish Coffee Custard would you like?”, “How many Preserved Lemon Curd would you like?” and so on. As the same form will be shared across all the products, you’ll only need to edit one form, once a week.

Let me know how you get on.

Hi! Sorry, for the late reply!

No it was great! but the client has since changed their mind. They want a calendar system so ppl can order well in advance. Which makes it tricky as their flavours change every week.

They are happy to tell customers that they will get one of each flavour unless they specify (and keep up to date with changing flavours on instagram etc.)

I actually just posted another question yesterday wondering if there is like an email system where an email can be sent to the customer a few days before with the updated flavours and to get in contact if they would like to choose. Or something.
