JonathanPenner Posted December 25, 2020 Posted December 25, 2020 Site URL: https://elfsight.com/ I am looking for a number of solid widgets for Squarespace 7.1. A well designed event calendar, an reliable way to implement parallax, and a number of other plugins/widgets. Elfsight offers a number that look really good. But I have read some seriously concerning reviews that have caused me to pause before I purchase. I know that Elfsight is on this forum, so I would appreciate any reviews or arms-length 3rd party feedback they may be able to share. But even more, I am wondering if anyone else on the forum has any experience working with Elfsight.

JonathanPenner Posted December 28, 2020 Author Posted December 28, 2020 I have read a number of very bad reviews about Elfsight that cause me to pause. Some users have said that when a user reaches their traffic limit (based on annual fee) you deactivate the widgets and replace them with advertising of Elfsight. If this were ever to happen on our site, it would damage our credibility and integrity. Several users also said that Elfsight even did this without letting the owner that the site was coming close to the limit. This is an unacceptable experience and causes me concern. Even the idea of a widget on our site, say the Event Calendar, being deactivated midstream because we have a surge in traffic, would be awful. My question on the Squarespace forum, is are there any reliable, arms length, reviews by reputable organizations or individuals? Or have any of the professional site developers on the forum worked with Elfsight? I love the products Elfsight offers. But need to be sure I am working with a reputable company. I also believe Elfisight is a Russian based company. With all the hacks and attacks said to be originating from Russia, I am also concerned about adding code that might be doing more than simply the job of the widget.
Elfsight Posted December 30, 2020 Posted December 30, 2020 Hi Jonathan! We are really sorry that you think so badly of us as a service. However, let us explain the things you most doubt about.1. We care about our users and would never ruin their credibility and integrity of their website . Before your views limit runs out, you will get several notification emails from Elfsight Apps, so it won't come as a surprise. When your views limit is over, the widget on your website will be deactivated either until you upgrade your subscription plan or until the next views refresh date. When the widget is deactivated, it just won’t be displayed on your website - we won’t replace it with any advertising. 2. Also, regarding the number of views, you can always check it in your admin panel (see how close you are to the limit and if there is a need to upgrade the subscription) or ask our support team, and they will be happy to explain to you all the points you have concerns about. 3. There’s no doubt that someone from the Squarespace community will answer you questions really soon. However now you can ask our users, who recommend us on G2 or on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/elfsight. Ask them in the comments or via the direct message and we’re sure, they will be happy to share some experience about Elfsight service with you. Maybe you will find all the necessary info you need to know about our widgets. 4. Yes, you guessed right! We’re a company that was founded in Russia, however, we have a lot of developers and other specialists from different parts of the world. And as for hacker attacks, it's certainly flattering to hear (thanks, you made our day), but we are just a team that develops website widgets and we are still far from the famous Russian hackers, if they exist at all. We are not personally acquainted with them and, unfortunately, they did not share with us how to add malicious code to our widgets. So we just offer widgets and that's it. Anyway, thanks for your comment! We understand how difficult it is to choose reliable service and we’ll do our best to prove Elfsight is a team you can count on. If you have any doubts, contact us and we will tell you all details about the widget functionality, subscription plans and more. We’ll be looking forward to hearing from you!Best regards, Elfsight Team
