adamwentworth Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 I'm looking for a way to have the entire footer portion of the canvas have a different bg color. In the attached photo, the top is what I'm shooting for, bottom is what I currently have. I was able to get some of the blue color in there using the background property for #footer, but the canvas padding to the left and right stays the light color. Is there a workaround for this? I'm using the Om theme.
SnazzyView Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 Would you be able to share a link to your website?
adamwentworth Posted October 23, 2019 Author Posted October 23, 2019 I'm re-designing a site for a friend, so I'm only editing in preview mode. The live site doesn't reflect any of the design changes I'm trying to make. Not sure if there's a way to share that.
tuanphan Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 @adamwentworth What template do you use? Email me if you have need any help (free, of course.). Answer within 24 hours. Or send to forum message Contact Customer Care - Learn CSS - Buy me a coffee (thank you!)
tuanphan Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 @adamwentworth I just viewed Om demo. https://om-demo.squarespace.com/ but it's footer is different you....so if you share site url, it will be better. I think some custom code can solve. Email me if you have need any help (free, of course.). Answer within 24 hours. adamwentworth Posted October 29, 2019 Author Posted October 29, 2019 @tuanphan Yeah the default footer in Om doesn't do what I want it to do, so I'm trying to add some type blocks to get the look I'm after - and hoping I can change the whole background to that blue color like in my initial example. The site url is www.rebeccagirard.com, but like I mentioned, it's using a different theme, and I'm redesigning using the Om theme in preview mode, so I'm not sure if there's a way to share that for you to see.
tuanphan Posted October 29, 2019 Posted October 29, 2019 You should share site url or wait someone can help without url 😄 Email me if you have need any help (free, of course.). Answer within 24 hours. Or send to forum message Contact Customer Care - Learn CSS - Buy me a coffee (thank you!)
moeezali Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 Hi @adamwentworth Just simply trying using this. It should work. footer, footer * { background-color: black; }
adamwentworth Posted November 7, 2019 Author Posted November 7, 2019 @tuanphan I created a trial site so I would be able to share the link with you. If you have any tips on how i can make the entire bottom section a different color that extends to the edges of the canvas like the example i posted at the start of this threat, that would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance. Site link here: https://bamboo-dalmatian-3exg.squarespace.com/
adamwentworth Posted November 7, 2019 Author Posted November 7, 2019 @moeezali thank you for that tip, unfortunately it didn't change the background colors all the way to the edges, so it looks like this:
Guest LolaDunlap Posted November 9, 2019 Posted November 9, 2019 The easiest and most comfortable way to choose a color is to write its name. The only problem with this method is that there are only sixteen colors called "standard." Although there are other informal colors, I won't bother showing them since they don't necessarily work the same way in all browsers.
moeezali Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 @tuanphan I can't see anything here it says that it's a private site: https://bamboo-dalmatian-3exg.squarespace.com/
