Update: I was told to keep the 'use www prefix' setting off for 24 hours, then to retry the domain forward. I'll update in 24 hours

Same issue. Tried all suggestions above and nothing worked. Seems that Squarespace removed their site mapping section/renamed it to domaining forwarding? I'm very disappointed that this is an issue, I've contacted Squarespace and will post an update shortly.
