Same width and height on non cropped images

Hello everybody,

A French guy here, who needs some help for a website of an artist.

I need to display a gallery page where the sizes of the images don't vary regarding the orientation of the images.

For example, here is the page : https://keyboard-pike-w25d.squarespace.com/dessins-.

# with the option of a Grid strips or masonry, landscape format appears smaller than portrait format.

In this option is there a possibility to have max height the same than max width (as if the images would be contained in a square).

# with the option of a Grid simple, images are cropped.

In this options is there a possibility to prevent cropping (+ keeping same max height and max width) ?

Does someone know how to do that ?

Can you share link to page where you use Grid simple? I think we can use code to achieve this
