Including SEO in contracts?

Recommended Posts

Hello! I was wondering if anyone could advise on how to incorporate SEO in pricing. I have seen it included in a flat website fee but also as an "Add On" since it requires an additional level of detail. Would love any feedback on this! Thanks!

Hi @emiehughes It depends on the services offered. Good web design and SEO go hand-in-hand. Basic SEO should be a core component of web design, not an add-on. Best practices such as good headings/tags, site structure, page speed, etc. create better user experience and are needed for properly-built sites. Charging separately for fundamentals might make clients question the value of the service, or wonder if they are being billed extra for what should be standard. If you offer advanced SEO services, it would be reasonable to list these as specialized options.
