How to make a video with a 1:1 ratio fill out the full area of the video block?

I am trying to add 2 videos to the home page. I  would like them to be 1:1 (square) ratio in place of the 2 pictures there now (see 1st image with 2 orange squares outlining where the videos will go). But when I upload a 1:1 ratio video, it doesn't fill out the whole block (see 2nd image attached). How can I make this video fit the full size of the block and still be a square?
