mdemartin
We are finding that Google does not index Squarespace gallery photos - even though they are properly tagged, etc. The website has been live for over two months, and the site and page images do show up in Google Search but not photos in image galleries. Is this is problem with Squarespace - does anyone else have this problem? Thanks in advance. https://www.devpragad.com/photo-gallery TinaHuffman and davidbruce 2 Link to comment

mdemartin
Unfortunately it’s true but Squarespace won’t acknowledge it. Link to comment
adsausage
Say it ain't so. My site is image/gallery-heavy... so that's frustrating to hear. I'm going back to Google Search console to see how much of the page was indexed. Link to comment
Gumbalaya
From my galleries only 2-3% of images are shown in Google Images. The specific images vary somewhat though. It seems that Google knows a lot more images than it shows, alternating between the known stash. Weird but even there I don't think Google has more than 5% indexed. From all galleries though, some of them have hundreds of images and Google shows 2. Link to comment
pm813
Has this been resolved or does google still not index gallery images? Link to comment
mdemartin
No, unfortunately it appears that Google does not index Squaresapce gallery images. They really need to do something about this. It's been a deal-breaker for a few clients. Beyondspace 1 Link to comment
wonderpiece
If I understand this correctly, is the only way to get photos indexed by Google on Squarespace to use the "Add Block" > "Image"? My client has 15 galleries of 20 photos. I came to this forum looking for the best way to populate the site so that the images/titles/descriptions are searchable within the site (which is looking dismal so far) and now to learn they aren't even making it to Google = Ouch. Sounds like I need to completely reconfigure the site for both Google search and also searchable site-wide. Very open to suggestions if you have any! https://www.retrophotoarchive.com/ Beyondspace 1 Link to comment

Image blocks, on the other hand using combination of data-src, srcset and src, thus leads to the indexable stats. What I don't get is why does Google does not index images from sitemap.xml? Looks like this is issue from Google BeyondSpace - Squarespace Website Developer 🖼️ Lightbox Studio (Enable Pinch/Zoom on lightbox, video lightbox and much more) 🗓️ Delivery Date Picker (Squarespace Date picker form field) 💫 Gallery block 7.1 workaround 🥳 No-code customisations for Squarespace (+100 Spark plugin customisations) 🥳 Freemium Squarespace Widget Templates (+1000 Elfsight Templates) If you find my answer useful, let's leave a like or upvote so others with the same issue can find their solution.
