nokelib
Hi I need to block some bots from visiting my website. On other CMS we can do this by adding code in robots.txt file. But we cannot do this in squarespace. Then how can we prevent some specific bot to visit our webiste? Link to comment

machinefriendly
https://platform.openai.com/docs/plugins/bot here I want to only block OpenAI's ChatGPT bot, how can I do it with Squarespace? Link to comment
patrickdot
@machinefriendly I logged a support ticket yesterday about this too as OpenAI now have this https://platform.openai.com/docs/gptbot/disallowing-gptbot Disallowing GPTBot To disallow GPTBot to access your site you can add the GPTBot to your site’s robots.txt: User-agent: GPTBot Disallow: / However Squarespace said Quote Hi <>, Thanks for reaching out. My name is <> and I'm glad to help you out today! We don't currently offer that feature, but I've sent your suggestion to our development team on your behalf. While we can't guarantee implementation of every suggestion, customer feedback is an important part of how we continue to improve our platform, so we appreciate your input. I was thinking of opening a poll here to see how many people see this as an important feature for SquareSpace to implement ASAP. nshady
This is extremely important to me and unfortunately in my interactions with the support chat, they seem woefully unaware of the issue. I kept being asked if I was concerned about my site map (?). Disallowing access to my content for GPTBot is a simple flag, as you point out, and yet being unable to edit Robots.txt forces all Squarespace customers to consent to the theft of their work. As a worker in the creative industries, I can't use a service that would so nakedly position itself against my interests. If this is not resolved, I will be moving. TOPCraig 1 Link to comment
davidbrewster
+1 on this. I'm also a creator and would like to block GPTBot and future AI bots. Now that I know it can be fairly easily done, it would be great to have that option. TOPCraig 1 Link to comment
df0
I came here for the exact same thing, and just want to join the choir. I think this is an important feature, and would definitely want to be able to block AI bots as soon as possible. TOPCraig 1 Link to comment

Ethan1234
How does one edit robot.txt files within Squarespace websites? I am trying to "opt-OUT" from chat GTP from using our copyrighted website content. According to this link: https://platform.openai.com/docs/gptbot we can "disallow" the GTPbot to index our sites by adding a robot.txt: User-agent: GPTBot Disallow: / Has anyone tried this? How do you add robot.txt files? Link to comment
