My background video doesnt play on my iPhone.

Hi, I am new to forum, so please bear with my lack of technical expertise. Q: I have a background video on my home page. It autoplays fine on desktop, but doesn't on my iPhone 10. I can see a still of the video, but it doesn't autoplay. Can anyone tell me if i have done something wrong, or is it a limitation of squarespace? Many thanks.

It is impossible to pinpoint the cause without extensive testing on different devices however I can tell you that Squarespace background videos can play on iPhones. Background video playback can be affected by the phone's settings and status, including

  • phone accessibility settings
  • if power save mode is enabled
  • if the battery is low
  • if the cellular signal is low
