It will depend on the purpose of your custom address ('A') record. Can you explain why you are adding it? Squarespace usually add the root address records (those using "@" as the host) so you shouldn't normally need to add one using a custom record. You should not require A records. For more information, see Adding Google Workspace MX records of use the interactive help features in Google Workspace to guide you. CharlieMMurph
I changed custom records to TXT because Google Workspace wanted TXT and Squarespace saved the changes, then i clicked protect domain , but it failed after 5 minutes. and i can't change it to MX because it says invalid mail address. paul2009
Your most recent screenshot explains how to add a record for verification purposes. This is a TXT record with the value shown in the image. The MX records I described in the Squarespace support article are required to allow mail to reach you. You'll need all of these records (the TXT record and the MX records) as a minimum. I cannot really provide much more assistance without knowing the domain name - and even then I won't have access to Squarespace or Google to check settings. If you are still having difficulties and have obtained/purchased Google Workspace through Squarespace, then I recommend you contact Squarespace Customer Care as they will have access to your settings and can guide you.
