Shipping fine furniture.. Do I need to use the shipping options?

Hi,

I have yet to ship a high end furniture piece, but I do know it will be more involved than simply putting it into a box and shipping it thru a FedEx store.  There are shipping companies that specialize in shipping high value items and things like LTL shipping will require some quoting on my end.

Is there a way to require a customer to the site to contact me for shipping?

The more I dig into this and the more I think about this, I don't think what I want is really possible.  I'm wanting to find a way to break the barrier between the customer and my company thru a simple process, but the reality is that shipping is complicated and I can't have both a button that allows a simple purchase, but also leaves room for a complicated shipping process.

We usually advise clients to include an 'Inquiry' button next to each product description that launches a form and prompts potential customers for the information you need to provide them with a quote. You can do this manually by adding links that launch a contact form.

If you are using Squarespace 'Store' pages to show your products, we have a pre-built solution available that improves the experience for users and captures the product information automatically. If you need more information you'll find it here - Product Enquiry Form extension.
