In page transparent video link?

Hey there! I currently have links to youtube videos that when clicked go to the external site. What I would love, is when the link is clicked, for the video to pop up within the same page as an overlay/transparency. If that makes sense? Is it possible to do?

For example, when you click the trailer link on this letterboxd page, the video pops out with a black transparency. https://letterboxd.com/film/titane/

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
