Lightbox mode not working

I'm making a portfolio, using a masonry gallery. I've found some code that means when I hover over each image the description shows over the image. But it's meant that my lightbox is disabled, i found more code to rectify but it doesn't seem to work:

.gallery-masonry-lightbox-link:after { content:''; position: absolute; width: 100%; height: 100%; top: 0; left: 0; z-index: 9999; }

Does anyone know how to get my lightbox to show and still keep my hover text?

Thanks in advance
