Disappointed with permissions on new platform

Recommended Posts

I'm reallllyyyyy disappointed to see I can't turn enable/disable individual projects on the new platform.

Having this ability would allow me to work on new project pages without having them visible to people visiting the site.

Also, doubly disappointed to see I can't password protect individual projects. Some projects are OK to have public facing, others I would want password protected for NDA purposes.

Why why why whyyyyy can't we enable/disable and password protect individual projects!

Insane.

I've been struggling with this exact issue for months!

Squarespace admin keeps masking and diverging this issue. I've seen them close multiple posts of this nature saying they've resolved it when in fact they only allow password protection on portfolios/pages but not at project level:

They know very well they haven't resolved the issue. It's horrible customer experience and service, not to mention super shady IMHO.

A lot of the times it takes a few days (or even weeks) to put together a project page and we need the option to hide the progress. We also need to be selective about who can see certain projects, whether it be NDA-related mentioned in previous posts or simply, just because. It's mind-boggling that this isn't a native feature – really, really, REALLY disappointing and frustrating.

And just wait, the admin is going to "resolve" this post soon too.

Here we are in 2023 and this feature still has not been implemented. Like so many others, I didn't realize this wasn't doable until after I paid for a subscription and spent all that time putting my site together, b/c what platform offering portfolio templates WOULDN'T have this?  And now to see that folks have been complaining about this for so long while squarespace continues to ignore it. As a UX professional, I'm absolutely dumbfounded by this.

Hey! is Squarespace hiring new product design leadership? Let me help you guys.
