How to hide a link within a block

I'm trying to hide a link within a line of text, so that people won't know there's a link there unless they move over it and see their cursor turn into a hand.

I've tried this, in the page CSS:

  #block-f123c0126da35373ce30 a {
     text-decoration: none;
  }

But it's not working; the link is still underlined and a different colour.

Does anyone know how I can achieve this?
